Hilton HHonors - Base Points, Stays and Nights All Deducted

Hello, I'm a new member to the forum.

I've read many informative posts over the last year so keep up the good work!

My question is probably an easy one to answer for the experts on here. Over the weekend my base points have been reduced by about 13,000, nights completed has dropped by about 10, and stays has dropped about 3.

So, my question is.....do you lose base points, stays and nights after a certain period of time?

Apologies if this is a post which has been discussed before. I did do a search before posting - I promise!

Did you have a recent Reward stay?

There have been sparodic reports here ovver the years of members which have "accidentally" gotten points/stays/nights assocaited with award stays
( seems to occur mostly with Diamond request stays) having their accounts auditted and points deducted.
( hasnt happened to me sor far...luckily:))

mike

P.S. I recall one instance where the deduction was made quite a number months after the initial posting.

Your looking at your previous 12 month activity - so 12 months ago you stayed 3 more times in that month than you did this year in the same month. Same for the other categories.

There is a thread about the upcoming changes to the rolling tier program that you might (or might not) want to read. Basically going back to calendar years next year.
----------

Reward stays count as stays but not as nights and any spend is given points.

Thanks Mike. I've not had any reward stays but have a couple booked next year so wouldnt have thought they would have made any difference.

I think that makes sense MacDaddie. So if I'm right the points, nights and stays all drop off on a rolling basis (looks to be monthly) which will soon be changed to a calendar year from 2009?

I missed you saying base points.. yes McDaddie is correct at end of each month the earnings for the corresponding month in 2007 will fall off.

In 2010 you will have the pleasure of seeing them vanish all at once, come Jan 1st:)

Thats my understanding (but I haven't bothered to read whatever is on HH website about it). Note that you haven't "lost" your points, they are still in your total points available, you've just lost them from the rolling 12 month tier tracker. I do expect that in 2009 it will back to the old way it was a few years ago when on Jan 1st or 2nd everything starts again at zero.

What you're seeing drop off are the number of base points accrued over the last 12 months for the purpose of determining status... not your redeemable points total (unless you've actually spent points on something).

I'm getting to grips with it now :)

I notice that you both say "everything" and "all" will be reset to zero. I presume you still carry over the points each year that you use to book reward stays?

Sorry if I'm being a bit naive with all of this. :o

I think you've answered my last post that I made. Thanks to you all ^
