Hilton HHonors - Hilton Limerick Ireland - No Longer

Even though it was just built 18 months ago, the Hilton Limerick as of Tuesday September 2 will no longer be a Hilton.

I have reservations there in early December, anyone know how these transitions usually work? I would assume my rate would be honored but I won't see any points or Diamond benefits in staying here?

Odd but somehow not surprising that it still shows up on the Hilton site. They bailed quickly, didn't they? It reads to me as if they took over an existing hotel already on Ennis Road 18 months ago but still strange.

At the least FWIW I'd want to confirm with the new management that the reservation and rate will be honored. Others may have better and more specific advice.

No, they took over an existing "site" of an old hotel on the Ennis Road. The hotel was brand new 18 months ago, which makes it all the more strange that it would go away so quickly.

I've had 3 stays there, all wonderful. Nice (but small) lounge, and the rooms are very comfortable and obviously modern. Nice views of the River Shannon and King John's castle in the distance... I'm sorry to see it go...

Hmm this has to be close to a record for a "short stay" in terms of franchise duration.

Interesting, the property is still showing up on hilton.com and accepting reservations there. (I tried some dates in October and November as a test)

The only indication of anything going on is the notice below posted in prominent red type at the top of the page:



"The executive lounge is closed until further notice. We apologise for any inconvenience caused."

Any further word on what's happening to reservations already made? Currently have a reservation for 6 nights in June 09. Figured I'd keep checking to see if rates would lower. Never thought Hilton would leave so quickly.

Stayed at the hotel late June 07. Really liked the hotel and location. Also, they hadn't got the parking garage working yet so parking was free, but no lounge at that time. Front desk did give me breakfast each day plus two drinks per day in the bar as a Diamond. Bar and restaurant seemed popular with many locals, as well.

ColumbiaPete is correct. Hotel still shows up for future reservations. The web folks at Hilton seem to be a little slow.

The Hilton Honors website has just answered my previous post. My June 09 reservation no longer exists on the My Account page and a search for the Hilton Limerick now shows no hotels within range. Goodbye to a hotel I only stayed in once but will miss due to the treatment and room I received. Its Dublin or nothing now in the Republic.
