Cathay Pacific Asia Miles - JFK lounge for CX MPC silver passenger?

1. I noticed there are three BA lounges in JFK and wonder which one is for MPC silver Y class passenger? First or Terrace lounge?

2. I heard Terrace lounge providing better food service. Is it true? I will use CX831 and expect to have something to eat for lunch in the lounge.

3. Besides, is there free wi-fi internet access in the lounge? how about the shower facility too?

4. At last, for the 16-hour Y flight experience of CX831, how many meals will be served? Is Chinese or Western meal choice better to try? What kinds of snack will be available during this flight?

Many thanks. This is my first extra-longhaul flight, so many questions are here.

Silver gets to use the Terraces lounge. There are snacks (sandwiches) but you cannot use the BA pre flight dining facility. No free wifi. Showers are available and nice.

shower - my experience there was a bit different, I found the shower room / facilities / towel all very old and worn...but I was just there only once, but in general it's better.

Well compared to the AA shower in LHR T3, the ones at JFK are nice....

Even though I have access to the F lounge as CX Diamond, I almost always use the Terraces lounge, which I find nicer and with more space.

I was in there on Aug 16, and they had free wifi available.

There will be two full meal services on the flight, plus one snack service somewhere in the middle. I posted the menu from the flight when I took it last year in the CX Y Menus 2007 (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=643079&highlight=831&page=2) thread.

When I took this flight, I fell asleep but awoke to find a snack bag hung on the latch securing the tray - a nice touch so that I had something to munch on when I woke up. I don't really remember what was in the snack service, but it's usually a mixture of things such as a bit of fruit, maybe some sort of sandwich, a sweet (chocolate or cookies, for example). Of course, there are lots of extra snacks available during the flight if you want (cup noodle, sandwiches, etc.). I distinctly remember there were plenty of leftover sandwiches on this sector. Shortly before we began the approach into HKG, the FAs were handing out plastic bags of them to anyone who asked so that they didn't go to waste. Lots of see lais and little old ladies were loading up.

As for what food to order, I would say you're best to pick whatever option is best suited to your taste. Y food is Y food, and I honestly don't find that the Asian dishes CX serves are very exotic to my Western palette (although I do enjoy Asian cooking, so maybe I'm not the best gwai lo to be commenting on that). Keep in mind that the farther back you are within your section of the cabin, the less likely you are to get your first choice of meals. For example, I was only a few rows in front of the mid-cabin break so I ended up with pasta and no other choice on the lunch service.

In the Terraces lounge, there should still be a 'business' area with a number of internet-enabled PCs to supplement any wi-fi service.

I thought it was perfectly nice and like the AA Arrivals lounge on other aspects as well. Have you visited after the renovation and relocation?

The shower room is not very good but not bad either.

There is a landside Arrivals Lounge on the second or third floor of T3. Entrance is free for CX F/J passengers and MPC Diamonds and Golds arriving on CX flights.

The lounge has a largish number of showers, continental breakfast buffet, internet access, newspapers and magazines and a service desk.

I can also concur on this. The Terraces lounge definitely has free wi-fi. I was there in late June, and again last week.

You have to ask at the check-in desk for the access code.

Free snacks, sandwiches, cup noodles and non-alcoholic drinks.

Free British Telecom Wifi was installed earlier this year. Ask the lounge attendant for the password.

There are free alcoholic drinks. They typically consist of liquers, wines, and maybe some beer. It's all self-serve. This isn't an American lounge ;-)
