Australia, New Zealand & the South Pacific - Quick response please: booking a Sydney hotel room for tonight (6-7hrs from now!)

Just throwing this one out there...
The Sydney Hilton is only offering $300 fully flexible rates for a no-notice booking, so my HPC $175 deal (or the $99 member card) promos won't work.

I don't need to stay in a hotel but it's an anniversary and something's come up (Star City/Pyrmont area), so we could go to this function and crash in the city for the night.

Any suggestions? This change of plan only came up 24hrs ago so I hadn't any way to plan it earlier. I suppose I could try lastminute and zuji.

Do you suggest I just phone the Hilton in case there's a way I could try for either of my rates in person?

Wotif/lastminute/zuji are almost certainly going to give you the best deals (for little hassle/calling around). Meriton kent st is decently located for you and $99 for tonight atm on wotif

Won't your HPC get you a discounted $240 rate?

Just checked, that's for a "KING HILTON EXECUTIVE ROOM - FLEXIBLE RATE".

This rate includes evening drinks and canapes along with "continental" breakfast in the lounge (normally on or three hot items).
