I split my time between Europe and USA and so I have numbers for both KLM and CO . I am platinum with KLM but no status with CO
I am flying to LHR from DTW on NWA in September on V class, and while CO gives 100% of miles, KL gives 25%.
My question is: I can put the CO miles on the reservation, but then do I still have access to the First Class Check in , KLM lounge, choice of seats etc?
I think deep down the answer is no but if you can help me verify I would appreciate it.

Hello! Most lounges work separately from the FF number of the ticket. So if I were you, I would make the reservation with my KLM number and use any pre-checkin services (seat selection, etc.) with my KLM number. Then upon arrival at the airport, when you get to the front of the gold check-in :p you can ask them to change your number to your CO number. When you get to the lounge, you show them your KLM card. This has worked for me several times. Good luck!

You WILL be able to access all the benefits of your Platinum card even if you want to credit the miles on CO. Just show your KL card at check-in and for lounge access.
I have an interesting reverse of this.
I've requaled for CO PL and have started banking miles in my Flying Blue account (nothing to do with the alliance change; I may have a need to book a KLM or AF reward ticket from the middle east later this year). I had a domestic trip IAH-MSY and received the complimentary e-mail upgrade to F (EUA) from CO. After I checked in on the outbound I asked an agent in the President's club if I could change the earning to FB. She said I could, but I would loose my complimentary upgrades.

Well, that's most likely because the system would then not recognise you as a PE and would probably search for other Elites to upgrade.

nomad1974 thanks for the replies.
I will use my FB card for check in and the lounge. My main worry is what happens with seat assignments and also if flight is delayed cancelled?
Once I put in my CO number at the outbound leg, don't I lose any privileges to pick exit rows, premium seats etc? Also, have you been in a situation where you did what I am trying to do, but it backfired because flight was delayed / cancelled and suddenly you're at the bottom of the pile for reconfirmations?

I am bumping this in case someone has an answer to my follow-up question.
Thanks for the help!
