Mexico - Hotel in Playa Del Carmen

Anybody stayed in Playa Del Carmen? Going Thanksgiving weekend...will need some reviews on hotels.

I am trying all the other sites, but ultimately I trust FT reviews.

Will need the following:

1) family friendly
2) all inclusive

I am deciding between one of the RIU's or the Gran Porto Real.

Anyone been to anyone of these?

I am only familiar with the Iberostar complex. I enjoyed it, it seemed to be family friendly, and was all inclusive. The food was good, no tummy issues. Waitstaff was professional, drinks were decent.

now that the GRAND VELAS RIVERA MAYA is open...my decision has been made...stayed at their PV property and it was really amazing !!!

I would be interested in hearing what kind of rate you find, and a review after you get back.

I'm looking for something in Playa del Carmen too... All-Inclusiveness is not a requirement. Would prefer something on the beach and smaller.

Any experiences?

Wife and I stayed at the Grand Mayan in Rivera Maya. They have an optional AI plan. There are quite a few really nice places. Really depends on your budget. Tripadvisor would be a good start.
