I will relocate to BNE next month and have the following questions.

1. Is it worthwhile to change my Airpoints address to Australia and convert to Australian Airpoints Dollars? I don't see how it will affect me leaving my account in NZ$.

2. Where is the best place to book RTW and other *A branded fares ex BNE?

Giving the increasing number of people moving accross the ditch, I hope thread would be useful to others as well.

If you have an australian address then earning and redemption will use aussie airbucks instead of (kiwi) airbucks.

1) For anyseat awards this may be an advantage if the charts have not kept up with the fall in kiwi $ relative to aussie $ (or if you have a reasonable current balance).

2) For fixed airbucks awards you'd need to check earn/burn relativities to see if better in aussie airbucks or (kiwi) airbucks. There is bound to be a difference due to rounding but I don't know if it is in your favour or not as I've never checked it (or monitored how often NZ updates the aussie charts for currency movements).

3) For status (re)qualification depends on the relationship between the airbucks earning implied exchange rate and the status level implied exchange rate.

I suspect (2) and (3) are not worth much either way. If you do an analysis please post the results.

This is an interesting thread. I will relocate to OOL for a temporary 3 months over summer and am wondering whether this will affect my AP$. I will most likely use some AP$ to book a flight to NZ from Australia and wondering whether I will be required to switch over to Aussie AP$ if I want to book an award flight from Australia.

AFAIK only if you change your airpoints address over.
