Hey Folks,

I had the opportunity to take a trip to Malta with my brother this past week, so now it's time to work on the trip report. Hopefully it'll be totally done by the end of the week. Any comments/questions are appreciated.:)

Great report Lucky... very entertaining. Loved the Ted-caviar bit.

Im spite of the dated hard product, I too love LH's First Class service and look forward to next week's DEN-MUC flight. At the moment, we're the only 2 in F. ^

Great report and thanks. I also will be on a LAX-MUC flight in F next week.. I however MUCH prefer the 343 as the privacy factor is great. On the LH 747 from LAX in F ( which is usually full ) one always has a seatmate.. ( sometimes good sometimes oh not so good)...

Totally agree with you. When traveling alone the 330/340 is definitely much better, while I slightly prefer the 747 when traveling with someone.

The F meal looks great. However the C meal looks average like the C in Alitalia Rome to Malta. I loved Malta / Gozo. I am sure you did too.

I had the opportunity to fly this week LH F from EWR to DUS and I had the same menu card. ;)

The food in the First lounge looks AMAZING.. something out of a restaurant and not an airport lounge...

Are Star Alliance Gold members allowed to use this lounge??

Right, not even first class passengers from Star Alliance airlines are allowed to use it. Only LH F passengers and LH HON's can use it.

I do not know if I will ever be able to experience LH's superlative first terminal again(I hope I do :D )but it has set a bar so high that all other first class lounges fall short.I am glad I got to experience it(and share it with my best friend)It(the terminal-which is so much more than a lounge)is worth whatever reroute you must take just so you fly LH via frankfurt.

I know I have posted this elsewhere on FT....but Labor Day 07, I was lucky enough to be the only F pax on a LH 747! Heaven in the skies! :D

Thank you! This is something I've struggled with for a while. On one hand I'd like to make the pictures as big as possible, but at the same time I'd like to make sure the pages continue to load quickly and that I don't take up too much space. Hello Lucky...I can not wait for your report back to the US! By then I should know, what I will have to eat on my way to Miami! By the way I saw you flew in row 81, how was it or do you think row 83 is better (can change)???

As for which row I prefer, it's a toughie. Despite row 81 being a bulkhead there's ample legroom, so that really isn't an issue. On one hand you're facing a wall which you might not like, but at the same time it's sooo private. Since you don't see anyone else getting service, it really feels like a private jet in every way possible. If you like a quiet, attentive feeling flight, I recommend row 81.

Row 83, on the other hand, has TONS of legroom. That being said, there's no way to use more legroom than row 81 offers, so it's really not necessary. If you're on the left side of the plane in row 83 the flight attendant will be sitting across from you during takeoff and landing, so in general I don't really like that. I do enjoy observing service though, so I get a bit more of a view from row 83.

So overall I would go with row 81, I think, but if you're flying LH roundtrip I would try row 81 in one direction and row 83 in another direction.

I am with my best friend in 81H (her) me in 81K to be able to make hopefully nice pic's too! This is already my return trip...I will fly on A340-600 in 1A from Charlotte to Munich...never been on the A340-600 version, so it will be very exciting. Service and food on LH sounds so wonderful! I have flewen a couple times on UA in F over the pond, but LH must beat them by far!

When do you take your trip back to the US...so I can read what to expect food wise...:)???

I've actually already been back at home for about a week now. I've just been very busy so am trying to fit in writing the trip report between all the other stuff I have to do. I'll hopefully have the entire report up in the next two days or so.

Now I just need to know what to wear:(!!! I have 3 Teddy Bears Traveling with me (they go where I go...YES I am NUTS!) and they have told me they want to travel in style...so I got them the big LV Kepall to fly in...maybe I should see a doctor before I leave.....

Regarding the in flight amenity kit...

I know they have now the RIMOWA suitcase, but what is really in it? I do not care of the package, but a nice face cream, lip conditioner and a face spritz are necessary items...are they provided?

LOL...by the way I saw you like FANTA! It is my favourite, too! During the day just like it is and in the evening with a good shot of "Grey Goose" or "Grey Goose Le Orange" over ice...YUMMY!!!

I will stay in the Marriott before my flight back to the US...will se what kind of room I will stay in! There should be as well the Winefest...the last time I was there in 1995!
