Southwest sent me a flyer on cuadruple credit (2 credits instead of 1/2) for Hertz 2 day Full Size rentals. You're supposed to arrive on Southwest within 24 hours. The offer is good on rentals through Dec. 31. I don't have the promo code handy, but I can post details later....
It may be targeted since I fly Southwest only once in a blue moon (maybe 4 one ways per year)--- although I use my Southwest account for car rentals on Dollar and Budget.

As promised: Quadruple credit from Hertz:
CDP #205418
Promotion Code 933741
Details are as I stated above:
You're supposed to arrive on WN within 24 hours of the flight (although I got quadruple credit when I was leaving on WN-- on a Rapid Rewards ticket, no less). Thus, WN just inputs the quad credit, I suppose, and WN doesn't verify the flight-- since my WN flight wasn't credited to the account.
You must reserve a Full Size or larger. (I unsuccessfully requested a downgrade: pay for the full, drive a compact-- easier parking).
You must keep the car at least 2 days.
You're supposed to reserve in advance-- online or by phone. I reserved by phone. Never liked the hertz.com system anyway.
The offer is valid for rentals before Dec. 31, 2002.
So that's the scoop....... now to see if I've been targetted for the triple miles promo. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif In my case, it takes many many multiple promos for me to choose WN-- their routes don't fit my travel patterns, but oh well. Guess that's why I've been targetted.

My last one just posted as quadruple miles for the leisure weekly, 1.5 with a separate .5 on my Southwest account all stating Hertz rental with the same dates. I haven't done the weekend rental so I don't know if it will post this way or just as triple points as the offer indicates. OK - I'm really confused by the current Hertz promotions.
First, there's the "Receive Triple Rapid Rewards" promo - PC 936913. What just posted for a rental in IND was actually 2 full credits - the standard .5 "Hertz Rental Credit" line and a 1.5 "Hrtz Triple Cr 1/1/03-9/30/03" line - even though the promo's only supposed to be good through July 31. They gave this to me on an econo rental @ $15 per day. I liked that very much.
Then there's the quadruple credit offer through 9/30/2003 - PC 941953. This is the one in the targeted mailer (I have no idea how it can't be transferable, per the fine print, since there's a PC # available to all, but that's another issue...) This has a full-size or larger restriction. I obviously like this less.
SO... I'm inclined to continue to use the first promo for as long as I can and so long as I keep getting 2 full credits. Previous posts seem to indicate that everyone's been getting 2 credits on the first - has anyone "only" gotten 1.5? Any experiences since the "new" offer came out?
Mr. July

Your rapid rewards number needs to be in your Dollar profile for it to happen automatically. Or, present your RR card/number when you pick up the vehicle. Since Dollar does not have an Elite drop service, you have to go inside and see a live person anyway, just verify that your RR number is in the rental agreement or show your card at that time.

On the Dollar double credit (good for 2-day compact or larger) - this is also available, thru Dec. 14, via the Dollar website (this is good for Southwest plus a host of other airlines) See http://www.dollar.com/promotions/8_21_03_double_miles_promo.asp

1. Hertz 3x credit thru 1/31/04
Through January 31, 2004, you can receive triple Rapid Rewards credit - 1.5 credits instead of the usual 0.5 credits - on Hertz Leisure Rate rentals of two or more days. It’s easy: just rent a mid-size or larger car, including sport utility vehicles, minivans and even the Hertz Prestige Collection at a participating airport or suburban location in the United States, Puerto Rico, and Canada.
For reservations visit southwest.com or hertz.com, call your travel agent, or call Hertz directly at 1-800-654-2210. Please provide your Rapid Rewards membership number, Rapid Rewards discount number CDP 205418, and promo code 946131. (When booking on southwest.com, please enter 205418 in the Corporate ID/Rate box.)
(Note that there's also a 2x credit/2x upgrade thru end of March posted above)
2. Dollar 2x credit thru Jan 8, 04:
November 1, 2003, through January 8, 2004, the smart money is with Dollar Rent A Car. That’s because you can receive double Rapid Rewards credit from Dollar when you rent a mid-size or larger vehicle for two or more days at participating locations.
To receive double credit, simply provide promo code WN37 when you make your reservation. You can book online at southwest.com or dollar.com, or call 1-800-800-4000. Being smart has never been so easy! (When booking on southwest.com, please enter WN37 in the Promotion Code box.)
Note - the below offer appears to be valid on a wider class of cars for a longer period:

FYI, I've had past success getting bonus RR credits from Alamo when booking at alamo.com, even when the promo states it must be booked at southwest.com.
In all honesty, I'd love to give WN the commission on the rental, but their online interface won't let you book for non-WN cities.
And I agree that Alamo is posting credits VERY quickly. My recent Hawaii rental posted to RR within two days (compared to my WN flights, which usually take around a week to post -- go figure).

I used WN36 to book dollar compact for two days on dollar's website two months ago and its web immediately telling the code typied in was qualifying for WN deouble credit. I did this just yesterday, it still works. I often search on WN's website to see which car rental is less expensive and then go to its website to make reservation. It avoids typing in credit card number when go to Dollar and Alamo. And the another good thing is the car rental company always sends confirmation via email while WN web does not.

Do I need to book at Southwest.com for this code or can I also do it at hertz.com? Is there any advantage to one over the other?
Also, do I have to note my RR number on the reservation or do I give them my card at the airport?
And finally, can I use my Hertz #1 Club membership and still earn the 4x credits?

Okay, I booked at Hertz.com, since the rate was cheaper (even with the same CDP/PC codes...strange). I did find the spot to put in my RR number. It looks like you have to choose one or the other (miles or Hertz points), unless I'm missing something.

Fire_Fly,
It looks like you are set. I always make my reservations at the Hertz page rather than the Southwest page. I haven't done a price comparison, but at the Hertz page the prices are always obscenely reasonable.
For instance, this weekend at STL the rate is $15/day. Grand total after taxes will be $38, and I get two credits. And being #1 Club Gold, I book an Escort and almost always get a Taurus or something similar. Having the car waiting for me is an absolute delight.
Happy travels!

Qualdruple credit is fantastic - thanks.
Also - note that the Hertz 2x + $5 off per day (leisure daily/leisure weekend) OR 2x + $20 (weekly) has been extended thru Nov 30.
I'd been using a similar offer (PC 947940, good thru the end of this month or next, I think) with great success - $30 (tax and fee included) plus a full credit for two-day weekend rentals in the midwest.
Details -
CDP 205418; PC 950810 (leisure daily/weekend) or 950806 (weekly)
Good on any car type, including SUV and minivans
Thru Nov 30
Any reservation means is OK (southwest.com, hertz.com, 1-800-654-2210)
Requires advance reservation, subject to blackout dates and capacity controls by location (not specified, though)
Leisure daily/weekend have a two-day minimum; $5 per day up to $20 off. Weekend defined as pickup noon Monday thru noon Sunday and return no later than 11:59 p.m. Monday; 'lesiure weekday' isn't otherwise defined.
Leisure weekly have a five-day minimum
This came with a mailed ticketless receipt (yeah, I'm probably the last person not to have it e-mailed - but every now and again I get a good offer like this stuffed in there)

yosemite1225 -- That's strange. Maybe the 10% vs. 5% has something to do with my rental being a weekly rental and yours being a weekend rental? Why don't you plug in the same info with a 7-day rental and see if your dates/location change to 10% off?

Note that it took a week and a half for the partner credits to post. The airline credits just posted a day before the Hertz credits did.

Looks like Hertz is it right now; everything else I found ends this summer. If Hertz doesn't work, it might make sense to just find your best rate ($ off coupon, other discount codes, etc.), know you're getting at least 1/2 credit, and then re-book later if any bonus promos come up. That far ahead, you'd probably want to check back to see if the rates change anyway (some of the rental car yield management tools are really detailed these days - I've seen Alamo quotes change by the hour)

I was just doing my rental reservations for the June/July period for the LAX and all the car rental prices seems to be relatively low. Even to my surprise the Herz is only couple of bucks more expensive than the other players.
When I did the rental servation using the SWA code above it did not indicate on the online reservation that the tank full of gas would have been included. I think that it is normal?
I could have used the double take coupon option but the two SWA credits are worth around $40 and the tank full of gas $30.

Check the total with the car return person before s/he closes out the contract. I was set to be charged for the fuel, so I just asked to close out the record with someone in the office / counter / Gold booth. I heard that that has been happening.
And to fully CYA (not an airport code ;) ), attach a printout of the Hertz section of the WN newsletter (http://www.southwest.com/rapid_rewards/rapid_report/partnerperks.html#hertz). (Select/highlight that section and hit Ctrl-P and then Alt-T to get just that section. Saves paper!)

Here are the rules.
PC 950714 is good until 11/04 and gives DOUBLE SWA credit for any class
car for two or more days pluss a free tank of gas.

To follow up on my previous post, I checked my rental receipt and it has the following lines in the receipt:
3 days @ 44.99 134.97
Promo 950902 -20.00
Discount 10% -11.50
Subtotal 103.47
and then a bunch of stuff about all the airport fees, etc.
Presumably the 10% discount is the regular CDP-based discount using the WN CDP. The $20 was a surprise.
Interestingly, the PC# doesn't seem to show up on the receipt you take off the #1Gold website, only on the "cash register receipt" from the express return. THe #1Gold receipt just shows "Adjustment $20.00" instead.

You might want to check on this. I'm not sure SW promotions are eligible in Hawaii as they don't fly there. We were there in April, forgot whether we had Budget or Dollar but when we tried to give our SW # for the half a credit they said they don't partner with SW there since SW doesn't fly into Hawaii. Had no problem getting AA miles. It may not be a problem with Hertz but I would check before I paid a higher rate expecting to get the bonuses.

When I was in Hawaii 2 months ago, Alamo gave me SWA credit (in OGG) but Budget would not give me SWA credit (in HNL). It is really annoying because Budget only gives SWA credit at "participating locations". How are you supposed to know what a "participating location" is if Budget doesn't list them or alert you when you reserve the dumb car on the Net. Are you supposed to call up Budget to check every single time? I factor the SWA credit into my purchase price when I rent a car. I only rented the car for 8 hours during a layover in HNL but I factored the 0.5 credit that I would earn in as a $10 savings, hence I picked Budget over the other companies cuz Budget had like a $1 cheaper rate. Since Budget wouldn't give SWA credit, I ended up getting AA miles instead. However the more I think about it, the lousy 50 AA miles that I got for the rental was basically completely subsidized by ME through the 50 cent frequent flyer surcharge tax I had to pay. Since I value the 50 AA miles at 50 cents, I basically got NOTHING for renting the car with Budget in Hawaii. My advice: DON'T RENT FROM BUDGET IN HAWAII. I personally will never rent from Budget again anywhere unless they are FAR CHEAPER than any other option. On another topic, why do people even bother getting frequent flyer miles if they only get 50 miles a day through AA/UAL/DL/etc? It seems to me as if they are just paying for the miles through the 50 cent per day FF surcharge. Or am I wrong?

I haven't had a problem getting Hertz points (including quadruple credit) from DCA, BOS, and other non-Southwest airports. They usually post within 1-2 weeks, too.
I waited 8 weeks for Dollar points (from BWI) before calling them, and then it took 2 more weeks for them to post, and then it was single credit instead of the triple credit I'd reserved.
So I'll stick with Hertz unless there's a big price difference.

I just checked my credit card statement. It was Budget in HNL that would not let us use SW as a partner. We had the car for a week and had a very good rate so it wasn't a big problem this time but I will certainly factor in the "participating location" question in future decisions to rent from Budget.

This is a great deal--kudos to whoever unearthed it. :)

After a simple calculatoin I found ;Hertz double credit + free gas " is better than "hertz 4x" credit". If we count 1 rr credit equals $20, then a tank of gas
will at least cost $30. I took advantage of 'hertz 4x" on two weekends and cost about $35/weekend. It already meant I rented Hertz for FREE.
Keep tha in mind, I will make a few more reservations from hertz to take full advantage. ^

This assumption only holds if you actually use a full tank of gas. Often I don't put more than 40-50 miles on a car over a couple days on a business trip. Even at $2.50 a gallon that won't likely add up to $20. (With the Prius I had last month, it added up to $1.07 worth of gas.).

I got the quadruple credit, no problem, in STL (booked it on the Southwest Travel Center)...it even says at the bottom of my return receipt "2 Rapid Rewards credits awarded".
However, in SHV, which is not a Southwest station, using the same promotion code (booked on the Hertz website), got only the normal 0.5 credits.
Perhaps DCA works because it is a co-terminal with BWI, and BOS with PVD? Whereas SHV is nowhere near another WN city?
I'm just guessing here - it can't be the fact that I booked one on the WN website, since you can't book anything but their cities on that website.
Any other experiences out there?

Perhaps it has more to do with SHV possibly being a "franchise" town and not a true "hertz corporate" location (don't know for sure, but I'm guessing). The promotions usually say "participating locations only" and in my experience that seems to be codespeak for non-corporate locations. (Some of these locations don't honor the corporate rates/benefits, too).

Boris, the receipt I got in SHV said "Rented By The Hertz Corporation" which I assume means it's a corporate location, not a franchise. Good thinking though.

I got double credits on the WN promo in HNL.... no way that can remotely be considered a WN station. ;)
Promo code 950810 for weekend rentals with Hertz, and 950606 for weekly rentals, give double WN credit plus $5 off per day, up to $20 off.
The code is no longer listed on southwest.com, but the offer is valid through Nov. 30, 2004. It's listed on an insert in every mailed WN receipt I've gotten in the last couple months.
I'm sure this has been listed earlier in this thread..... but why use the 'latest, greatest' double credit promo code when this old standby gives double credit along with $$$ off?!?! ;)

Yes, SanFF posted the same CP code in this thread on 4/12/04. I used it earlier this month for a 1 day Economy (although Hertz upgraded me to a nice SUV for free) weekend rental from LAX. The total came to $15.67 including tax. I value 1.0 SWA credit at $20 so I figure I got paid over $4 to drive Hertz'z SUV for the day. Thanks Hertz!!!!!

:) When I used Hertz CDP205418, PC 950714, I did it online.
(BTW, I checked the both swa and hertz websites, only found the latter offers LOWER price.I also don't both to visit the web to see if the price was getting lower after initial booking. I often find there are lower rental price available as it approaching weekends. I book a new reservation if there is a lower price available and cancel the old.)
When I was at the rental counter last Saturday night, after initial confilict information from rental agent I demanded to have a clarification from hertz customer service. Took a little while to be connected, but the customer service was quickly confirmed all information the CDP and PC # applying.
After the conversation between the rental agent and Hertz CSA, the rental agent told me that CSA said the problem was caused by a computer glitch when reservation was made online, but would not happen if the reservation was placed on the phone.
The rental agent again and again said "Sorry forthe trouble" to me and quickly made the rental printout, showing I purchased the tank of gas at $33.33 discout ! :D
Thanks SWA :)

I've found that making the reservation online is $10-$15 cheaper per day than over the phone. So what I do with the free gas code is make the reservation online and then call reservations and have them add the notation to the reservation that the free tank of gas is included.

True. Actually, my bill was about $3 higher than I booked when my rental was settled over the phone. But I am still happy because it was still LOWER
than if I booked on SWA web, moreover, if you consider 1 rr credit=$20, and $33.33 discount for gas I got a free rental. No complain at all.

I rarely rent autos - typically fly and then taxi it. At any rate, I've got a trip to San Diego August 7-11. I need a cheap rental car and I like these Southwest promos to top off the next free Southwest ticket.
My main question - with these promo codes, do they require that you fly on Southwest in conjunction with the car rental. I'm flying Delta for this long haul trip.
Thanks for the help.

I am using the same code in two weeks and the system accepted it. Hertz is pretty good about rejecting any PC that is invalid (date, size, length). Regarding the websites, the last three rentals I booked (all within the last two weeks) were less expensive on SWA's site.

This weekend I used PC 952092 at the HLE in my home town of Downers Grove. I had been quoted a total of $30 for the weekend, and when I returned the car, they asked to see the coupon. I said it came in an email, and they called some home office to confirm the deal.
After the phone call, I was told the discount was $20 (instead of the $10 I was expecting). The grand total was $20.12 for two days, and I will get 1.5 WN credits from the rental.
If the rates stay the same, I'm renting every weekend this fall.

Every time that I return a car they ask for the coupon. I always say that's it's an e-coupon, they look a little perplexed and everything works fine.
If you need some logic consider this PC: "Expires 2/28/05: Double credit on any car, any length rental: PC 947785". (I believe that this came with our new CP.) This one says right on the page that it can be used unlimited times. If you turn it in the first time, then what? Obviously you can't turn in an "unlimited use" coupon.
Although, I will say that it's a good idea to have a copy of the coupon handy, just in case.

I've never been asked for a coupon over the span of quite a few rentals at many airports, including the very generous quadruple Rapid Rewards credit promotion. I wonder which of our experiences is the norm, and which is the exception.

Generally not been asked for a coupon, but most of my Hertz rentals are of the #1 club, gold or whatever it's called - you either bypass the counter entirely or they have everything set to go and you show your ID. In the rare instances I have had a coupon that says you must surrender it, I've actually confused the return people by trying to give it to them - most of the time they don't know what to do with it.
Doesn't help with bonus credit offers, but I've found that if you fill out the comment card that comes with the rental packet and mark "request response" they'll throw in a coupon or two with the response letter.

Dollar - 2x credit for minivan, convertible, sport utility, premium or luxury for 2+ days. Promo code is WNAWD
This one is good thru 2/28/05
Note: fine print says "coupon must be surrendered at time of rental" Not enough experience to know if Dollar actually enforces this. Mine came stuffed with a mailed flight itinerary last night - so best bet if you're interested is to specify the mail option the next time you book.

Just used CDP 205418, PC 952361 for Hertz for the 3 day weekend in LAS, thru SWA's site ($15/day)...was only a few cents cheaper than Hertz's site. I'm a gold hertz member although honestly i never use hertz because they're almost always the most expensive (off topic, but the current deal with Dollar and NW can't be beat imho---triple miles by Dollar for a 2 day rental, and NW doubles that), but using it cause i need a quick credit on SWA. Anyway, before i made the reservation, I called the gold hertz desk and confirmed the above is valid for double SWA credit, no coupon required. However, after i booked it on SWA i read the fine print on my on-screen confirmation and it said coupon WAS required...i called gold hertz back and they verified coupon was NOT required, and they made that notation in my reservation so I wouldn't have a hassle. So if you're concerned, i suggest you do what i did...
PS...after 10 months of fighting with Office Max, I'm the proud owner of 21 United miles from my $4 purchase of AAA batteries in December of 2003. I needed it for my 5k United bonus which posted immediately this week after the 21 miles showed up. Talk about a hassle, but after dealing with dollar, budget and alamo (constantly) over missing mileage, I'm almost prepared for anything (but fighting for credits over Econ-O-Lodge is even too much for me to handle...with or without medication)

I'm a Hertz Club Gold member, so I never stand in line or sign any agreements. It is much more hassle to fight over the particulars of a PC coupon in person than it is to do it online after the rental with Hertz's corportate office.

Well, I usally make several reservations and pick one most convienent for me(since often I don't know when I can get to the airport). And often I don't like the car, Hertz assign and want a change. In the case of free tank of gas, if you don't make it clear, you will be charged for empty tank. In the past, I was able to get the refund but only after several phone calls and took several months.
I probably didn't get your point on your first post saying"How come all of the Hertz billing errors in SJC are in their favor? "

Anyone beside Hertz have double credit promo right now that does not require mid-size or larger? Hertz rates are kind of high, but I have a free day coupon that will knock it down to something reasonable. Only thing is I don't know if I can combine coupons on the same res. (Southwest double credit and Hertz free day). Anyone know?
gregorygrady
Oct 4, 04, 10:06 am
Nope you can't combine coupons or discounts. Each coupon or bonus will have its own unique Promotional Code and you can only use one PC # per reservation.
It would be nice though if you could get $5 off per day, triple RR credit, a free day, AND a free tank of gas for a single rental. I'd sell my car and rent a car everyday from Hertz if that was possible. :)

Note that 2x credit is supposed to be for intermediate and above, and since it's new there's probably no track record on how well it's enforced. Still, sometimes the $ is worth more than the fractional credit.

You're right - comparing the Southwest promo and the Budget website, I see the ambiguity. Your speculation that mid-sized = intermediate would be my guess, too - but it sounds like you now have room to argue. Something along the lines of "there wasn't anything listed as 'intermediate' and because the compact was in between the economy and mid-size and because you gave me a rate quote with that promo code I was led to believe that a 'compact' was the same as an 'intermediate' and therefore you should give me double credit" comes to mind.

Dollar triple credit - full size or larger, three days or longer. Rent between Oct 15 & Dec 15 2004. No flight required. Use promo WN30.
This came in a targeted promo (offering 2x credit for Y-fare flights booked online to/from BWI - but during the same window for 2x credit on Visa purchases  ). Dollar offer refers to "select Rapid Rewards Members," but doesn't appear to be limited.

So this Car Rental thread is the #1 most viewed thread on this forum and is #3 in terms of highest number of posts of any thread in the SWA Forum. And this thread has been viewed over twice as many times as any other thread in this forum. So nsx, how did you get your FAQs thread stickied? Can you get this one stickied as well? BTW, if you play around with the display/sort function down below, I'm not sure how accurate the "Most Viewed" function is. I believe FT only started the ticker count when they made the recent changes to FT as all the old threads have very low counts. For example, the #1 most posted on thread has 183 posts but was only viewed 184 times? But this Car Rental thread is definitely a popular thread and if everybody else here uses if half as much as I do, it would be useful if it was stuck to the top under the FAQs.

Good thru March 31 05 offers from the Hertz website -
[1] 2x Credit + $5/day off (weekend) or $20 off (weekly), any car. Weekend requires 2+ days. Standard WN CDP (205418), use PC 947940 (weekend) or 947962 (weekly).
PC # seems to be recycled from last year, offer looks to be same as the promo that's due to sunset on November 30.
[2] 2x Credit + one-class upgrade (on rentals of compacts to full size). Use PC 950994 on this one.
This is the same PC as previously posted, but is now good thru 3/31

Quadruple Credits means four times the normal .5 credit, or two credits. So your plan would result in four credits.
My experience is that you can get credits for back-to-back rentals, but I've only tried this once when I downsized from a SUV to a compact.

Perhaps the 2x + $5/day off applies to all cars. The 3x + $5/day off (PC 952092) applies only to midsize or larger vehicles.
Usually, the difference between midsize and compact has been $2/day or less, so I've just been booking midsize using the triple-credit promo. But perhaps in some markets or at some times the compact rate would be substantially cheaper than the midsize rate such that using the 2x promo would be warranted.

If you book with the SWA CDP, you will normally get a 10-15% discount off the base rate. If you are using some of the above codes, you may also get another $5 per day off the base rate. Add all these savings up and many times it's possible to have a total charge that is below the base rate.....................

FOUR FULL CREDITS??? WOW, that's a free ticket every four rentals!!
The best I had seen is 4x the credits, or 2 full credit per rental.
Are all other T&C the same as the OP for 3 credits??
Thanks!!

Has anyone received the four credits/2000 miles yet?
I just returned a car a couple of days ago and the Hertz statement said:
You've earned 4.5 credits!!
And if I read the previous post, it says the credits are ADDITIONAL, so this adds up. If true, this is better than an old fashioned RT in the good days of 2x credits.
Not posted on my SW RR account yet, but I'm checking daily.

Which PC# did you use? It must be the PC#968741 which says four bonus credits (plus the normal .5 credit)= 4.5 credits. I assume the other PC#968763 says three bonus credits + normal .5 credits= 3.5 credits.
That is a bonanza! Did you receive the promo...do you know if terms and conditions are the same as the three credit bonus?
Has anyone actually had the bonus credits post yet?
Thanks!!

The same happened to me!
When I returned the car, the statement said I earned 4.5 credits, the credits posted yesterday, and it was only 0.5. It may be that the bonus will post later.
Will check with Hertz and post my updates.
William: I've used the PC for 4 credits from this thread. I don't have the T&C, but sanFF indicated they are the same as in the 3 credit promo.

Are you in the "President's Circle"? Is that code only for members of the P.C. or can anybody use the 4.5 credit code?

I booked a rental for my coworker next week at TPA using 968741. It allowed me to reserve the car and accepted the PC. We'll soon find out if it works and the credits post; he rents from Hertz perhaps twice a year.

Here is a link to the offer, from the Hertz forum.
Does not seem to be targeted, or restricted, but it's a Hertz Gold offer.
Anyone can get Hertz Gold for $10 by signing up to the Ameniti intro offer with United. This will get you a bunch more stuff as well, including one year of conde nast travel, a bottle of wine, 2 passes to the red carpet club...and yes, some deals with United too. Be sure to cancel within three months, unless you're happy with the service!!

Can somebody help me understand the earlier post?
If I book a compact on the Hertz website, does this mean that
I will receive a mid-size?
I didn't see anywhere on the hertz checkout that mentioned the
upgrade. I am reserving for 2 days and need a mid-size
in BWI from June 27 and 28.
Am I understanding this correctly?
Is there a better code for 2 days on SWA?
Thanks in advance

Just got this in e-mail....
"Now through September 30, 2005, you can receive double Rapid Rewards credit (1 Rapid Rewards credit, rather than the standard 0.5 credits per rental) and receive a Free One Car Class Upgrade on qualifying Leisure Daily, Leisure Weekly, and Leisure Weekend Rate rentals of two or more days. Simply rent a Compact (Class B) through Full-size (Class F) car at a participating airport and suburban location in the U.S. or Canada.
For reservations, visit southwest.com, hertz.com, or call Hertz at 1-800-654-2210. I think the fine print indicates that the upgrade is on an as-available basis, so if you absolutely must have a mid-size, then you probably have to book it.

Does anyone have codes for 1 day rentals, on 1 way rentals? I have applied numerous codes listed, but either the one day or one way deter the savings.
Best I have found is Avis with a total of 78.73 using AMEX rewards codes. We are open to any rental car agency with the best price.
Travel to begin October 30th, NY.

Rent Pemium (G) or larger car, SUV, minivan, or Prestige Collection for a week.
I'm a #1 gold and booked a car a couple of weeks ago with the 4.5 bonus number. I checked with the booking agent and the counter both on pick-up and return of the car to make sure the proper offer was listed. Today I see that my account shows .5 hertz rental credit. I know that often when there's a bonus offer, the regular credit and the bonus post separately, but I always assumed they posted at basically the same time. I'm hoping that's the case, and I'll still get the 4.5 credits. Has anyone else had experience with this situation?

It worked for me. But then I became Gold a couple of weeks after the bonus posted, so I don't know if Hertz checks later. I assume if they post the points thay don't go back and take them away later, but cannot say for sure.

I went to book a reservation for the 4.5 Southwest credits and found that the link provided earlier in this forum lead to a "this promotion has expired" message. However, I was still able to book the deal using the PC# provided (#968741). (As before, the rate was a bit higher and the Hertz agent seemed baffled that I still wanted to book it with the 4.5 credits.) Totally worth it for me.

Pretty good Hertz promo code that I haven't seen posted here yet. 1 credit + $20 off a fullsize or larger car for a 2-day weekend rental would provide the best value:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now through February 28, 2006, you can save $20 and receive double Rapid Rewards credit (1 credit vs. the standard 0.5 credits per rental) on qualifying Leisure Weekly or Leisure Weekend Rate rentals. This offer is valid on rentals of any full-size or larger car at participating airport and off-airport locations in the U.S.
For reservations, visit southwest.com, hertz.com, or call Hertz directly at 1-800-654-2210. When making your reservation, provide CDP number 205418 (when booking at southwest.com, please enter 205418 in the Corporate ID/Rate field) and Promotion Code 971040. Be sure to present your Rapid Rewards account number at time of rental pickup.
Advance reservation is required. Weekly rentals require a five-day minimum keep. Weekend rentals require a two-day minimum keep. Minimum rental age is 25 (exceptions apply). Taxes, tax reimbursement, governmental surcharges and optional services, such as refueling, are extra. Standard rental qualifications, rental period and return restrictions apply. Offer has no cash value and may not be combined with any other offer, discount, coupon or promotion. Frequent Flyer Surcharge of $0.50 per day, up to a maximum of $2.00 per rental, may apply. So to summarize for those who don't feel like reading 13 pages:
Now that the 4 credit bonus offer has expired (8/31), looks like the codes from posts #244 (1.5 credits) and #246 (1 credit) are the best Hertz deals as of today.
My experience for a 2-day Hertz rental for this weekend (all using CDP 205418):
PC 969651 $66.23
PC 955091 (midsize) $50.34 (+1.5 WN credits)
PC 971040 (fullsize) $57.05 (+1 WN credit)
PC 955092 (SUV only?) - would not compute (+1.5 WN credits)
PC 955091 expires 12/31/05
PC 971040 expires 2/28/06
Of course, I rented with Budget since they sent me a free day coupon and I'll take $20 cash over 1 soon-to-be devalued RR credit any day. :)
