To continue what Phil said above: I realise at this point it wont help much, however; I lost my stepfather way too early last year. Obviously much harder for my Mother, the point being she is getting through it and is beginning to smile again.

We are here for you and so is time.

I can't begin to thank you all for this thread----especially Jenbel who so thoughtfully started it. She met Stan and they took to each other straight away.
He was the nicest person I ever met and so many people have said the same. He was held in such high esteem and I just heard an announcement on Gaelic radio stating that his funeral will be held tomorrow and details were given out. This upset me so I decided to come online and saw this thread. Tears again!
I'm trying not to be too upset as I know that I was so lucky, not just to have known him, but to have shared my life with him.
I'd like to thank you all, and the many who sent PMs to me and the lovely cards of sympathy I received.

I rarely visit the community boards, so I just saw this - please allow me to share in the condolences. While I never met you or Stan, I could have done so this summer if my plans hadn't changed. Just remember all the pain is worth it because of the joy.

MargaretWhile nothing or nobody could ever remotely replace the loss of your precious husband, you will never be truly lonely as long as you have your family, as well as all of your friends here on FlyerTalk, braefoot...

...and you have many, many friends.

You know that if there is anything we could do to help relieve the pain you are feeling in any way, all you have to do is let us know.

I cannot even begin to imagine how much you are hurting right now or the pain you are feeling inside but, in my opinion, that old saying applies here:

It is better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all.

If that saying really is true, then you really are one very lucky and blessed woman to have been with Stan all of those years, braefoot. Cherish those memories. Hopefully they will help you smile once again...

I too am so sorry to hear of your loss. To lose someone held in such high esteem and who was as said 'the nicest person' you'd met touches me so. I am so sad for you and offer my prayers and thoughts. I completely understand the depth of your loss :(
