Like most people, you probably tune out as flight attendants give their safety briefing before the plane takes off, but if you're in an exit row, you might want to think twice about not paying attention.
Transport Canada documents obtained by Canwest News Service question whether there is a possibility that exit row passengers could be sued if they ignore the instructions and someone is injured or dies as a result.

This is a silly warning. It would make more sense for the government to warn people that they may have to pay taxes on winnings if they win the lotto. Besides, who would pax sue - the big-pockets airline which actually crashed the plane or the small-pockets pax who one must prove failed to follow exit-row procedure?

I appreciate the concept - the exit row is more than just an inch or two of extra space. Will it ever get used? Doubtful as the article states, the deepest pockets are associated with the airline not the passenger
