Air New Zealand Air Points - Part of Auckland Airport evacuated 16 August

BREAKING NEWS: A section of Auckland Airport's domestic terminal has been evacuated after a suspicious package was understood to have been found on an Air New Zealand flight this morning.


Few details were available from police and an airport spokeswoman would say only that an incident was being investigated.

Passengers at the airport were told of an incident over the public address system.

I was wondering why the a/c for my flight is an hour late. Did this impact international as well or the delay is unrelated?

False alarm. Everything back to normal now.

I see from AKL airport site that a lot of international flights have been delayed ~ 1 hour today.

A scare at Auckland Airport's domestic terminal is over after a suspicious package was found to contain harmless material.


A gate lounge where passengers were waiting to board a flight to Christchurch was evacuated while the package, thought to have been found on an airbridge, was examined.

However, airport spokeswoman Lucy Powell said it was found to be harmless and the lounge was reopened and passengers boarded the flight for a delayed departure.
