What is up with BMI scheduling at the moment.

Last week (not the one just gone) I ask my secretary to book me on the BD1 on Mon and BD12 on Tue. Turns out there is no BD12 so rather than fly BA I ask to be put on the BD14 (even though that's a complete drag and means I get home after midnight once delays have been taken into account).

Same process again today asking to be booked on BD1/BD12 next Tue and it turns out there's no BD1! The next flight is something like the BD7 which gets me in mid-afternoon (I could be wrong - can't really remember but it was totally useless).

So I'm forced to fly BA. Great - there's a reason I choose BMI and it's because it offers better service and obviously the great DC.

But if they're going to mess around with their timetable to the extent half my flights have to be with BA I may as well move wholesale to BA as I don't want to split my miles/points across two alliances. And being a simple person I like a routine I can get used to rather than having to chop and change to suit some utterly random schedule.:mad::mad:

bmi have thinned the schedules on its business routes in the height of the summer for many years, which is prudent given the reduced demand and the fact that some aircraft are tied up in heavy maintenance.

Just to balance the impression that bmi's LHR-GLA schedules are in meltdown, next weeks weekday schedule is :

Mon : 8 rotations as normal
Tue : 6 rotations, BD1, BD5, BD2 and BD12 off
Wed : 8 rotations as normal
Thu : 8 rotations as normal
Fri : 7 rotations, BD14 and BD13 off

You have just been rather unlucky in being hit by the Tuesday thinnings both ways. Just think of it as an occupational hazard of summer business travel : indeed BRU is much more rantworthy than GLA. BTW, according to the timetable, the BD3 is running on Tues, but its probably fully booked by now given BD1 and BD5 are off. BA have already indicated they are sharpening their hatchet, so you may well find yourself jumping out of the BD frying pan into the BA fire.

Indeed - you should see the Saturday schedules on the business routes - up to half the usual number of rotations and half of those are operated by an Embraer. Meantime the A320s are flying charter trips to Greece ;) I flew on the BD63 EDI-LHR the other day - consistently one of the busiest and high-yield flights on the network. It was deserted.
