Is there any way to stop the software updates from auto-rebooting the lounge computers?

Really annoying when you're in the middle of something and it reboots (though at least it does give a couple of minutes of notice). Especially when you have only a minute or two to board - by the time it has rebooted you have left to board and whatever were working on is left unfinished.

You could try holding down ESC if a message comes up saying it is going to restart.

On Thu there was no way to print anything from the Int AKL lounge which was pretty critical after changing flights and needing a hard copy of the details before heading to India.
The helpful lounge staff eventually took the info from my memory stick onto their work laptop and printed it out the back.

I never assume I will be able to print from an airport lounge. Many lounges do not have printers at all (eg SQ at SIN).

I was under the impression that after updating you were given the option of restarting now or restarting later?

Yes, but choosing restart later merely delays it by a couple of minutes and then there is no option to defer again.
