Hertz - Anybody experience a Fuel Credit?

I rented a car at the HHV in HI for one day and was informed that gas was at a quater tank. I have never experienced this before becuase I always fill up on the way back. The girl told me if I have more that a quater tank when I return they would credit me back... I didn't belive her, but managed to leave the car with 1/2 tank left and marked on my return jacket. I did check the agreement and it said my gas was 2/8. I check Hertz invoice today, and indeed my $80 dollar rental was only charged $55 with a $35 gas credit.

I love it when this happens. Here (Australia) they credit you at the rate they charge for refueling - currently $AU2.50/litre. Fill the car up at $1.40 a litre and and get $10-$50 off your rental depending on how low the petrol was at pick-up!

It happened to me once with a one day rental (picked up in the city around 11am and returned to SJC at 5pm and very low miles driven).

Don't remember exactly how full the tank was, but got almost $10 credit for about one or two gallons extra when the gas price was under $2 per gallon. I was impressed :)

Has happened to me several times. Was credited the full amount of what I put in the tank to cover the inconvenience of not having a full tank.
