Newsstand - Logan named best airport by pilots

The Air Line Pilots Association has selected Boston's Logan International Airport as its 2008 "Airport of the Year."
Pilots cited the airport's extensive efforts to reduce runway incursions and excursions through enhanced markings and technologies, its new physical improvements that reduce congestion and delays, and its multi-faceted approach to emergency exercises.

I'm not surprised. Trafic congestions at Logan are rare and usually very well handled. It's nothing like NYC airports. It's interesting to get the pilots' perspective.

Unfortunately, from a passenger's perspective, Logan is a sh*thole, aside from terminal A, which is just moderately crappy. Thank god for Accela...

Shmeh... Logan's fine. Terminal E is ok. B is a toilet. I haven't used C in many years and I don't think I've ever used A. Immigration is pretty efficient. Luggage services are s-l-o-w. You get very little sitting on the tarmac, which is nice. I like the over-the-water take-offs and landings - it's nice to have a window seat (I'm usually an aisle person).

but every nook and cranny, closet or cubbyhole in the northeast has a Dunkin there are so many you could probably spend a few years visiting one a day, each one different.

^ I saw the truncated headline "Logan named best airpor..." on the Travel & Dining front page and thought, "that's impossible". I haven't been to BOS in about 8 years, but I figured that great a turnaround was not in the cards...when I saw "by pilots", it made sense.

BOS is worlds better than the toilet-mints that JFK, LGA, and EWR collectively represent. E is reasonably nice, as is A (except for that whole flying DL thing :mad:), B is tolerable, as is C. As far as airports in our fine nation go, it has beautiful approaches, easy access to multiple forms of public transportation, and some of the best parking in the country. (Parking on the roof of B is probably my single most favorite place to watch airplanes in the world... especially when the wind favors the 22's and you show up for the evening push to Europe)
