Is there any chance of the Feb. schedule being released in the next 2 weeks? I would really like to book award travel in Feb, but need to book it by the 26th.

Wow - I didn't realize you can't even book 180 days out right now (all other airlines will let you start booking award tickets for next July).

Makes it a little trickier to use those automatically expiring award tickets, huh? ;)

JetBlue has never had a 330-day booking system like the legacies; that much isn't new.

As for when the next schedule extension will happen - shakes magic 8 ball - hard to know for sure. I'd bet that it isn't available by the end of August. Probable closer to October, IMO.

That is way less lead time than usual.

That is way less lead time than usual.

On 12/26/07 (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=772141&highlight=schedule+extended) the schedule was extended by 4 months up through Labor Day. That means that until that extension (i.e. 12/25/07) the availability was through April, or 4 months.

At the end of April '08 (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=816910&highlight=schedule+extended) the schedule was extended from September 3 to 1/31/09. But at the time of the extension there were only about 4 months remaining in the bookable window.

In April '06 (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=543983&highlight=schedule+extended) the extension past Labor Day also happened, again at ~4 months remaining in the schedule.

And, last but not least, the schedule was extended (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=768603&highlight=schedule+extended) into April '08 in late December '07.

I think that my estimate is within the realm of "usual" though that certainly doesn't mean I'm right.

As discussed several times, there is no science to it. It definitely won't be October though. I expect the schedules through ~April/May will be released sometime in the next few weeks (probably no more than a month).

JetBlue does not release schedules so far in advance, as it is still a growing company and does not want to constantly change customers' flights.

Also, this appears on the homepage: Flights available for sale through January 31, 2009. TB members now find out beforehand when the schedules will open up via email.

How can you say that it definitely won't be that late when historically it has been close to that? I hope it doesn't take that long to get the schedules released, but I'm not willing to write it off completely as a possibility.

Last year I had booked Delta tickets 6 months in advance . I ended up having 3 flight number changes and an airport change (from JFK to LGA). I can understand B6 wanting to firm up their plans a bit (and to see where oil is ending up). Its hard to price when you have no idea if oil will be at 100 or 150 6 months from now.

October just seems a little late, mainly for the early part of the next booking window extension (ie. February).

Southwest is extending their schedule to March 6 on August 21. (According to their website). This leaves B6 as the last airline to release their schedule . I am not sure if B6 should be congratulated or condemmed on this achievement (or lack thereof ).

With WN extending their schedule to March 06 , as far as I can tell B6 is the only airline not to have figured out past Jan 31. Of course given the change in the last couple of months its hard to predict where B6 will be flying (except I assume they will keep the JFK-Florida shuttle).

Wow. It looks like we'll finally be able to book flights more than 4+ months in advance, starting Friday!

Effective Friday September 5, 2008 our schedule will now be extended through April 30, 2009.

Not that this helps the OP, unfortunately, but for future search purposes, I'll record here that Jetblue just announced that their schedule will be extended to April 30, 2009 effective September 5, 2008.

Is it at midnight, or some other time?

I just saw that jetBlue is now selling tickets through April 30, 2009. Also, there was a note on the site about booking Aer Lingus through April 30, 2009, directly on their site to Ireland, so finally those tickets are now bookable :)
