Wyndham Hotels and Resorts, the luxury, top-end chain of the Wyndham Worldwide company, followed suit and has implemented the exact terms and conditions of the Wyndham Rewards chain (Super 8, Days Inn, Ramada, Howard Johnson, Travelodge, Knights Inn, Amerihost Inn, Baymont Inn, Wingate by Wyndham).
As far as I could see, the terms are now identical - one room per month for this chain, BUT it does not appear that you must book a prepaid "Webrate" like it did before. I cannot see the word "Webrate" even mentioned anywhere on their website anymore as part of the terms and conditions. Therefore, it may now be possible to file a BRG claim on fully refundable rates - if that is the case, I'd be pretty happy.
I know I've (incorrectly) announced on Flyertalk that they were allowing refundable rates in the past, but it actually appears to be the case this time around. But, this is entirely speculative and they make their own rules, right?
Changes I noticed include:
- You must file your claim within 24 hours now, not within 72 hours as before
- It seems that all rates, except the usual voucher, organization, negotiated are included.
- Same rule implemented about rates within $0.25.
- These BRGs are now based on the PRE-TAX rate (again, like WR).
You can see the terms and conditions here. (http://www.wyndhampromotions.com/webmatch/terms.asp)
I'm actually fairly content with them matching the terms and conditions. It will be less confusing for all concerned.
Let us know if you are successful in claiming against a refundable room with Wyndham.
Thanks.

Going with the pre-tax rate will be a nice benefit. Over the past few months, I've seen several Wyndham BRG's where the competitor had a lower pre-tax rate, but post-tax Wyndham had the lower rate.

As this thread discusses the policies of Wyndham vs. an actual hotel deal, I'm going to move it to the Wyndham forum.

That's too bad about the $.25 change in the rules! I'm still searching for my first BRG in Milwaukee for 10/31-11/2 and the closest one I found was for Wyndam Milwaukee Airport and Convention Center for $88.75 (listed with Priceline) versus $89 with Wyndam's site. Darn that 25 cents!
I first searched Kayak.com from reading roadtripman's blog, but the searches came up with exact matches. Priceline had Wyndam at $88 (and I thought I had my first BRG!), but after I clicked for more information, the rooms were listed at $88.75. :(
I won't give up!

I HATE that about Priceline. It calls anything over $xx, xx. Ie. $99.99 is $99 to them, not $100. It's very annoying. The same thing happens on a couple of other sites as well. Best bet, click the "details" button on the Kayak search result, and it will list the hotels with prices in full view. It saves you the trouble of having to load each website and look at the rates there. Just a suggestion.
Welcome to my blog, by the way, I hope you'll find it to be useful.

Thanks! I didn't notice the "details" button on Kayak. I'll try it next time. :) And yes, my husband & I find your website to be informative and helpful. We've subscribed to it as well as have it bookmarked and just access Kayak through your blog. I'll let you know when we find our first BRG. :)

Glad you like the website! If you do find any BRGs, be sure to contribute them to the community so everyone can partake! Enjoy the BRG hunt!

Hi there,
just filed my first claim ever for BRG for Ramada in Solothurn, CH - it is a fully refundable rate of 180 CHF shown on the Ramada.com website.
however Hotels.ch (website is in German) have the same for just 178 CHF - that's a bargain, isn't it?
well - I'm thrilled to find out f they could hold to the BRG promise. I'll keep you posted

They will deny this claim. Ramada BRGs are not worldwide, only US and Canada. Sorry, but it's true.

Yes, they did :-) interesting fact is still, that on the reservation confirmation page for this hotel in Switzerland, right above the "Reservation Confirmed" words they display the blinking banner "Our Guaranteed Best Rate - Or its Free!" - well IF I would get .....y, that would be a clear case of misleading advertisement in Switzerland or Germany (where I am living).
sigh.
By the way, the T&C, the friendly Wyndham agent pointed me to have the following blurp:
To file a claim, fill out the online Claim Form with your booking details. Only one valid claim can be submitted per person, per e-mail address, per calendar month. All reservations must be for personal use only and booked by the guest who will actually be staying at the hotel.
What is a "valid claim"? Does that mean, that even that my claim was declined, I am not allowed to file one more for this month for a stay in US or CA?

"Valid" is more like "validated" in this context - they mean, you can only have one free night issued per month. If no free night resulted from a claim, then it was considered "invalid". A "valid" claim would be one resulting in a free night stay.
Likewise, if you have a free night stay from a claim from this month, and cancel it, and re-file a claim for the same chain, that is also OK. You are allowed, as long as you don't have two "validated" claims in the system from the same month of submission.

Some hotels (accidentally) issue Wyndham Rewards points on free night stays. Since Wyndham Rewards points are based on the room rate (which in a BRG situation, is $0.00), ten points per dollar is 0 points.
But, some of us get lucky sometimes. I've had approximately 3 or 4 postings of points in my last 100 free nights.
