I'm working with a national television network on a story about car rental refueling charges. The producers are seeking, "a mother who feels they have been robbed or victimized by this experience, and paid more than $50 or $60."

If you fit that profile, send me a PM and I'll pass your info along.

Why are they limiting alleged victimhood to just mothers? Is it because only mothers have been alleged victims? Or it just adds sensationalism to the story? Why not limit victimhood to those indivduals who are incapable of reading and understanding the prominently posted signs and notices relative to refueling charges?

Sensationalism I guess, maybe a quiet news week.........

I believe the segment is focused on advice for traveling mothers, so they want to use their peers to show examples of what to avoid.

And you wonder why folks don't trust the media...

"Lets look for the saddest story we can find even if it's just a lie to get on TV"

Every request on here for "media" is some type of "lets take advanatage of things" not lets tell the FULL STORY!

And if it's on "traveling mothers" then why don't you only ask for "traveling mothers" not "traveling mothers who we can make look pitiful and take advantage of"???

Yet again I must agree with Carol. I returned a car yesterday in Germany; I knew full well that my refuelling options were limited. I tried to refill at the airport station which was unmanned and many of us were having 'issues' so I returned the car just under full.

The return agent pointed it out, I said 'yes, I know' and accepted it. Why is that anyone's fault except for my own?

Non-news stories like this really infuriate me as they only serve to spread misinformation amongst amateur travellers.

We left our big SUV rental idling for several hours running the AC and only drove around 23 miles. Knowing the way Hertz calculates fueling, we used over 9 gallons and only had to pay around $14 for fuel. I guess we made Hertz the victim in that situation.

I think I'll wait until I see the program before I pass judgment. I realize that everyone has FT levels of knowledge and no one is ever an occasional traveler with limited travel experience.
