Air New Zealand Air Points - Faulty IFE on NZ38, what to compensation to expect?

This is likely to have been raised before, but no search has brought anything of merit to my attention.
At today an hour ago we were given a letter to say that the IFE was not working on the 39 into LHR and to expect it not working on the nz38 out to hkg/akl. The letter (from NZ lhr manager) mentioned compensation forms to be handed out at the gate should they not be able to resolve the matter. Anyone have experience of what they would offer? we are all travelling (3) in BP (two on my *E upgrades) if that makes any difference....
I guess we should hold our breath and be thankful it is a night flight....
cheers

PS - don't think much of the *A lounge, no computers! had to nip to the BA terraces lounge to post this...plus the red wine is French with no sign of pinot noir etc.

I've not personally had an IFE issue with NZ, but someone else who has told me he got some vouchers which are useable on future fare or can be convertable to airpoints.

On a flight from AKL - LAX (in PE) my IFE didn't work. I was the only one with the problem, and they couldn't move me to BP as it was full - which I knew as I had given up the last upgrade seat in order to sit with hubby & son in PE :( - mad I know!

I was given $120 airpoints $ vouchers + a bottle of champagne.
I thought that was pretty generous really.

Well thankfully the IFE had been sorted by the time we boarded so much ado about nothing in the end..
t'was a great flight too, with long chats with various crew members and both my gifted upgrades going through for daughter and the mrs.
The second leg HKG-AKL also got my upgrade to go through (a previous gold upgrade) but graciously gave this to my wife (25 weeks pregnant, so not really any doubt I was going to!) It seemed that BP was completely full so pleased is was given considering it would have been wasted if not.

PS - i like the updated IFE too.

I believe you're the first poster to comment about the refreshed IFE - well done!

The IFE facelift is to bring it into line visually with the upcoming A320 and 767 IFE. I like the new look too.

So how different is the new look? Are there any screenshots anywhere (for those of us who are curious but don't get to fly NZ anymore... until they open up the AKL-JFK route with their new 787s that is :) )

I had this last weekend. The menu system is (slightly) different. Some might find it easier to navigate although I missed being able to see half a dozen titles at once - scrolling through is a bit annoying. Not a major change (as far as I could see) - eg content still the same, airshow unchanged, still not the fastest to respond.

We had a slow boarding so I was well into my first movie before it was interrupted for the safety video. It worked seamlessly ^ - all I had to do after the safety video was hit play and the movie resumed from the same spot it was stopped. In the front cabin I seemed to be the only passenger who was aware of the new gate to gate IFE (at least before it was announced). I didn't see anyone else using the IFE before the announcement.

Yes, same thing with me on my last long haul, everyone around seemed to be unaware that you could start the system straight away.
Agree with Kiwiflyer that the start and stopping is great and it appeared to be a little quicker (but may have been an illusion).
