Actually pretty good numbers. LF is down 0.3% on a capacity increase of 2.1%. And RASM is up 11%, which is huge.

Completion rate was 96.8%, which isn't particularly good.

Not as big of a deal as the quaterly call a few weeks ago, but nonetheless, great numbers for this tough operating environment ^

96.8% completion factor may not be great - like the old days of ~99% - however, this is expected, as pre-cancellation due to weather seems to be the norm in this post-2/14 world. Average stage length also decreased which is good with these oil prices. Ontime performance again is lagging at 64.7% - what's the industry look like in this respect?

Q: Traffic increased 1.7%, capacity increased 2.1%

Wouldn't that result in a .4% LF decline? How did LF decrease .3 points?? Not that .1 is a huge deal, but am I missing something here?

Also, maybe Dave will touch upon these results - don't forget to watch tonight at 9EST!!!

For example, they could have originally been something like:

Capacity increase: 2.07%
Traffic increase: 1.73%
=
Load Factor change: (.34%)

Thank you for the explanation.

Pretty good numbers despite fares being up! Hopefully with oil back around $115/barrel we will see our position strengthen some.

It is not rounding.

Let's go thru the math here.

Last year, LF was 86.9%, = 86.9(traffic)/100(capacity)

YOY, traffic up by 1.7 pts, capacity up by 2.1 pt

so the calculation would be (86.9*101.7%)/(100*102.1%) = 86.6%

It is high school math, you cannot do capacity - traffic directly since the base for calculation not the same

It is not rounding.I didn't want to explain that differences in growth rates require a geometric difference.

But I'm glad that someone else did! :)

Another equally confusing high school math explanation: change in percentage points is not the same thing as percent change.
