Hertz - Any suggestion on getting upgrade?
Greetings:
Does anyone have a suggestion on getting an upgrade in New Zealand? (Auckland) Sept.2008
This is my first non -USA rental and what I have found does not apply outside the USA.
Thanks for any advice.....................

Suggestion...book the class of car you want. Upgrades are not guaranteed and free or paid.

Right!
Now my problem is that I book the class of car I want, and I don't want to be upgraded! I don't like big cars, I can't stand gas-guzzling SUVs... and anyway I want a car with a trunk in which I can lock valuables. Depending on what I am carrying and with whom I am travelling, I pick the right car... and often get something bigger, which I have to take back.

Try calling the location the day before and explain your needs for your reservation, I'm sure the location would someway try to meet you on this.

Is there any way to actually talk to someone at the location, if its not an HLE kind of place? I usually rent at airports, and of course the 800 numbers go to Hertz central.

When I've called the Syracuse office, if I just keep waiting through the prompts it eventually rings over to the physical location.
