Hello all,

Would love to get the group's thoughts on whether this is do-able or if I should be looking to change the domestic leg though am hoping that won't be necessary...

I am landing into MAA on 16th August via SQ 526 from SIN at 10.00 am (international terminal?) and am hoping to connect to Jet flight 419 to Coimbatore (domestic terminal) with a scheduled departure time of 11.25 am.

The other specifics are that the SQ leg is in business and I am planning not to check in any bags. Also, I am planning to check in for the Jet flight online in during my stopover in Singapore.

This will be my first time coming in via Chennai so would sincerely appreciate any thoughts on my chances and suggestions for making the 11.25 am flight.

My question is, will I be able to get thru customs & immigration AND make it thru the domestic terminal security in time to make my 11.25 am flight.

Any suggestions/ insights on the quickest way to get from the international terminal to the domestic one would be sincerely appreciated.

Thanks in advance and best regards,

The domestic terminal is just across the intl terminal. You can just walk across in 5 mins. ^

Many thanks candadep - glad to know it is a short walk once i get thru immigration,

I realize that there is no accurate way of predicting how long it will take to get thru immigration due to a variety of factors (arriving flights at that time, delays etc.) but would love to get any prior experiences/ guesstimates on the same, from anyone on these boards.

If all goes according to plan, it would be around 10 am on a Saturday morning and i will be among the first few (business class) from my flight to disembark, with no checked in luggage....

Thanks in advance!

It is 10 AM on a saturday morning, no worries. And there's a dedicated line at immigration for business class.

If you have checked bags - check that SQ can interline them to Jet Airways for your onward connection (though they do go through customs checks at Madras, your first point of entry into India).

Even then, 1.5 hours should be ample, I think.

MAA is one of the few Indian airports where a 1.5 hour intl to dom connection is possible.

[not sure if this is doable at the new HYD or BLR airports?].

From my experience, SQ generally refuses to check through baggage to 9W (must be some sort of major rivalry). Even after repeated request they say that as per their policy they cannot check through to 9W under any circumstances.

My mother has done a transfer in MAA in around 1hr 45mins and she says that is was quite easy.

I have done both domestic to international, and International to domestic in under 45 minutes (gate to gate) in Chennai (MAA) airport.

Great,

Exactly the kind of input I was looking for,

Thank you all for the insights (will be looking out for the dedicated business class immigration line) and the information.

The dedicated J line is the first counter from your left (in arrivals immigration). For outbound immigration (departures) it is the last counter to your right. There's an attendant at departures who will check your boarding pass and redirect you to the right line (the dedicated J/F pax line is closed off with tape, he will open it for you)

Thanks hserus,

Appreciate the heads up on the J line,

I will be exiting out of BOM on SQ in F- do they have a F/J line there as well?

Thanks!

I just recently did the SQ flight on J and was out after claiming baggage in 30 minutes.. with the flight ahead by 10 minutes ==> 10:20 am! Its another point that my folks did not expect me to make it through immigrations that quickly and had to wait another 20..

Definitely doable, as long as your incoming flight is not delayed.

I am not sure about BOM, SuperFlyBoy should know for sure, given the number of times he's flown out of there.

Yes. First queue entrance on the left. Show your boarding pass where the queues begin.
