I was just wondering if anyone has used the Dollar at the Orlando airport. We belong to the Dollar express club and I just wondered if they have a different line for the express club or do they have a self serve kiosk?

I hate dealing with the people at the counters, and I'd much rather just use a kiosk and skip the counters.

It's been awhile since we've been to Orlando, so I just wondered what they have there.

Anyone know???

Thx!

I don't believe any Dollar locations have self-serve kiosks. I could be wrong, but I haven't seen any anywhere.

I don't remember a kiosk at MCO and like Jackal I'm not sure I've ever seen one at a Dollar location. My recollection from last month and previous visits to MCO is that there are 2 lines, one regular and one for express, but I have never had to wait to get to the counter so I can't say I've really noticed or used the express line.

When I rented @ Dollar @ MCO, not only did they have 2 lines...they only had 1 customer service rep designated to service those in the express line:confused: This resulted in the normal line actually getting processed faster...groan.

Also, had to listen to the "upsell" that u avoid w/Alamo & National's reward programs

Then, you cross the street to garage & wait in yet another line to pick up keys

still, if the rate is substantially lower, i'd book it lol

If that ever happens, then that location is doing something wrong. Dollar Express contracts should be pre-done two hours before the customer's arrival. The contract should be set in one of the glossy cardstock Dollar Express jackets. When the customer arrives, the customer should literally have to initial and sign. Dollar Express program standards require that the customer be out of the lobby within 60 seconds of walking up to the counter. A quick offer for an upgrade (not the full greeting/rapport-building/qualifying sales dialogue, but maybe a quick notification of daily specials) wouldn't be against the rules, but since customers put their coverage and fuel preferences in their Express profile, the rental agent should not need to do (and is basically forbidden from doing) the full sales presentation on the coverages and fuel.

If a location is not pre-doing rentals before customers' arrival, then maybe a letter or call to Customer Care or to the Dollar Express desk might be in order.

On a side note, the Thrifty Blue Chip program is almost identical to the Dollar Express program with one addition: a satisfaction guarantee. So if you are not fully satisfied with your rental experience (including waiting in a long line and/or not having the rental paperwork done before your arrival, or the rental process takes more than 60 seconds), Thrifty will refund one day of your rental. In cities where both Dollar and Thrifty are owned by corporate DTG (as opposed to one being corporate and the other being franchised or both being two separate franchises), Dollar's and Thrifty's rates should be the same, you'll be getting vehicles from the same fleet, and possibly even the same rental agents will be helping you (in other words, everything should be identical between the two brands), it's usually a better idea to book a Thrifty Blue Chip reservation rather than a Dollar Express reservation, since the Blue Chip service includes that free day guarantee. (And since in my experience, corporate locations rarely have rentals pre-printed, it's really easy to get a free day...)

only problem in MCO is that thrifty is offsite

the above was my exact complaint to the asst mgr on duty:confused:; as stated earlier, only if their rate is tempting...will we deal with their lackadasial methods in MCO;)

fyi, from reports on other forums; my experience(s) were not isolated. Conversely, the service @ TPA offisite was great^
