This was in the newsletter -- which spouse got and I didn't. Surprising I couldn't use it.

In the past week I got one in the mail that started "We Want You Back" (I haven't stayed with them since February), and mine is for 3000 points for just one stay by Sep 15.

Hmmm. I have not received any "invite" for the promotion and when I clicked on the "3stay" link and attempted to enroll, I get a message that I am not eligible. That's fine, no problem.

However, last week, my account was suddenly awarded five 3,000 "Multiple Stay Bonus" points, backdated from May, June, and July. There isn't any detail in my account summary to explain the promo points. I have had more than 50 stays since April 2008 -- all but 3 of them as BRG free night stays. I generally earn points for roughly 2/3rds of my free night stays, usually based on the rate that I "beat" with competitor sites (thus making my First Night Free).

I don't recall enrolling in a similar bunus earlier in 2008. Last summer I earned over 10,000 points on free BRG hotels with their "500 Point Per Booking" promotion and I was dismayed they didn't have that promotion this summer.

I suppose I shuldn't complain though.

FWIW:

1. I went to that site, clicked Book Now, logged in, then went to that site again, clicked Book Now again, this was was logged in, and then booked it. Dunno if another order works or not (I found it confusing, since you have to be a member to get points, but Book Now from this link doesn't first ask you to log in!).

2. My stay was a one-nighter on Aug 19 (at a Days Inn), reserved not long before that. The base points posted a few days later, but it took another week or so (but only that long) for the 3000 to show up in addition.

Btw, hurry, the stay has to be by September 15.
