Cathay Pacific Asia Miles - Online perk as a Diamond

I learned something new today.
I need to book my monthly flight from LAX-MNL and CX online prices were about 1459usd for non-weekend flights. The booking codes were M on the outbound and K on the inbound.
If I adjust my outbound 1 extra day, the fare went down are 1359usd as both are in M codes.
I called the 800# to check what they could offer and the lowest for M was 1650usd!
I politely told the agent I was diamond and I was trying to book the all M-code itinerary but applied to my original travel dates at 1359usd.
The agent suggested I call the CX Online Number and explain the situation.
I did get in touch with the Online division, they took my phone number, Marco polo number and name and was told somebody will call back.
About 4 hours later, CX online calls me back, asks for my CC number and everything is good!
I love CX! I will continue to use them as my experience with them the past 4 years have been excellent!

Yes, one could invoke the seat guarantee privilege to get the lowest possible booking class for on-line bookings, but you need to call the e-service hot line, which could be a short wait. The MPC call center can patch you over also, and they are pretty good with returning calls when you don't want to wait around.
However, I find the on-line booking engine is very limited. It can only book destinations served CX metals only. For a simple trip like HKG/JFK/(SFO or LAX)/HKG, it can not handle. I guess it is better with Asia bound traffic like your case, with a stopover in HKG. When I try to book my HKG/JFK/SFO/HKG trip, although per fare rule I can have 2 stopovers, the only possible one for on-line booking is YVR. I called e-service, they said nothing can be done!:td:
Long and short, good for you!^ BTW, if you have the new CX Amex card, you will also get 2X miles.:D

Care to clarify what you mean by the "online number"? Is that the e-service ctr number? And I am also confused about what actually happened to you to knock the price down... Please explain as it maybe helpful for other MPC members in the states. Thanks.
FYI I also had one similar experience that I got a better price when booking thru the res ctr versus directly at CX website. That's a bit ripped off as I thought the online res sys is supposed to be the most accurate? I guess not in reality check.

I've been a member since 1988 - service standards are going down by the day.

There is a dedicated phone number for assistance with online bookings. Its called the e-service center number. It a 800 number out of Hong Kong.
The online booking webpage only showed my inbound as code K. On another day, M code was availablel. So what the e-service center did for me was book me on M code on the dates I specifically wanted. They did the booking themselves, made sure M-code was assigned, hence the lower fare by 100usd. Then called me to get my Credit Card info.
As for the reservation number, it used to be that they would be cheaper than the website. During the past 6 months, they have been consistently 200usd higher than the website even with the requested booking code.

Well the ticket i mentioned above was purchased in June... from the US res ctr... it is at least 100 USD cheaper than the CX website. Even for another day for the same route, the res ctr is still cheaper. And I was able to upgrade it to business class given the booking class is allowed.

Wow...I keep checking with them on the phone and they are always higher!

Could you explain more? I only know the cabin service is going downhill these days.
