Hertz - New to Hertz - Can I activate #1 Gold locally without a rental

DH just switched to Hertz #1 Gold from National EA. When he signed up for the account, it said that Gold Services (ie bypassing the counter) aren't available until after the first rental. I understand that Hertz will need to verify his DL and Credit Card. Does anyone know if it is possible to go to a local Hertz location and have them do the verification without actually making a rental? We have a reservation with the family at RSW next week and I'd love to bypass the line rather than having him wait with the kids in tow.

Thanks!

The line shouldn't be so bad. It took me all of 3 minutes on my first rental.

There's usually a separate smaller desk out in the Gold booth that can take care of the paperwork. It should have your name on the board, then ** for space number. Once you complete the ID check, they'll tell you your space number.

I agree with the past poster, I think it took all of 1-2 minutes my first time.

That being said, if it's convenient for the OP to stop by a Local Edition before the rental, I suspect they can take care of it there as well. :)

Make a rental show-up do the paper work and then decline the car. They may not like it but it will work.

Incorrect - you still have to make a rental, even at an HLE.
