It was sitting next to a glass of water and I spilt maybe 3 tablespoons on my 8800. I wiped it off and I saw the trackball and a few keys didn't work so I powered it off, took it apart and placed it on my cable box to dry. At this point, is there anything else I can do? any hope for it? if I still have problems with the trackball, can I order a replacement part?

You can open up the trackball cover and take the ball out.

Perhaps it just needs a good cleaning and some more time to dry.
Finally, proof that water is dangerous. The TSA was right after all.
Seriously, I would wait another day letting it dry out. For small spills like that , it has worked for me with other equipment.

Give it about 30hrs to dry... I dropped mine in a sink full of water and it survived. One of the reason's I'm a blackberry fan. I've been able to put my phone through all kinds of abuse and its managed to survive.

If just water and no sugary substance like coke IMHO you will be fine.

Yup, battery is out. Battery never got wet.
we will see later on today how it is.

Its not about the battery getting wet (well it is important), but taking out the battery is to make sure that the cell phone does not have power at all and any water would not cause any short circuit that might damage the phone.

Tried it today, but no signal all day. Trackball works though.
