I bought an ATP PhotoFinder, in order to geotag my travel photographs. It's been quite a challenge to figure out, and I'm inclined to return it to B&H Photo. That's a shame, because it's on sale for only $80.

My problem is more than just the tiny LCD display (perhaps the next version will come with an electron microscope so you can read it :) ) and the very brief time that the display remains lit during card-read operations.

I also can't figure out the GMT adjustment. If I set it to something other than GMT +0, it won't "stick"...it reverts to zero. (This didn't happen yesterday when I received it, but it does now...I don't know why.) If I leave GMT at zero, every photo is tagged with the lat and lon of the first photo in the series. The bread-crumb trail on Google Earth is very accurate, but photos are not located correctly.

Also, I'm unclear on how you deal with travel in more than one time zone. It appears that, if you mess up and tag your photos with the wrong time zone, they can never be fixed.

Does someone here have a favorable experience with this gadget?

This review and the reader comments don't sound too good:

But I’d wait for version 2 on this device. The power issues ended up making incomplete tracklogs which in turn caused many photos not to be tagged with any location information. I also didn’t like the idea of all of my photos having to be tagged in the UTC timezone.
