I'm at wit's end with my Powerbook G4. For years now I've complained to Apple that both Safari and Firefox "quit unexpectedly" when visiting various websites. Just yesterday, while viewing a video on apple.com, the brower quit.

We've archived and reinstalled, wiped the drive clean and began again and, most recently, Apple replaced the hard drive on the machine. All these efforts have been uneffective.

I suspect the error is caused by flash-based websites. With each unexpected quit I send the report to Apple.......

I've been comtemplating purchasing an iMac and only using the laptop when absolutely necessary. I'm unsure the problem will resolve.

Apple's support page's forum shows several posts with the same problem yet no one is able to offer a solution. I, therefore, turn to the experts and geeks of Flyertalk.

We all know how to complain to an airline; how 'bout a computer company?

I had that problem for a while, and it also seemed to be flash related. I'm running the current version, 10.5.4 now, and haven't had the problem lately.

Please read the beginning of my second sentence.

The beginning of your second sentence does not answer his/her question, so I'll answer it.

10.5.4 is the current version of OS X.

Not to be a pain in the *ss, but how does 'I'm running the current version, 10.5.4 now', not say that it's the current version? Safari certainly isn't at version 10.5.4!

No thanks to the somewhat snippy response found above.......10.5.4 may be the most current version of the operating system in Leopard. My Powerbook is running Tiger.

Nonetheless, another visit to the Apple store this week. Genius suggested adding RAM to the machine. This is the first time "Apple" has made this suggestion (having gone so far as to replace the hard drive on their dime).

Bought 1gig memory card online and installed it last night. I've been running multiple flash based websites simultaneously with no safari crashes (so far).
