Southwest Rapid Rewards - Picked For Gate Search - Allowed To Pre-Board w/Seniors & Children?

My wife just shared with me that about 3 weeks ago she had BP#65 and was picked for a gate search. After her bag was inspected they moved her over to the pre-boarding area she boarded with the seniors and young children. The only thing she was a little bummed about is that she was taken out of the running for a VDB voucher. Is this policy everywhere? This happened in Sacramento (SMF). I think that this is a very wise move to keep passengers that are gate screened happy.

I've been told this is the case, but I have not been able to verify that it's a company-wide policy.

On a related issue: I haven't seen the new boarding passes yet. Is there an indicator on the new boarding passes that one will be subject to a pre-boarding baggage search?

If you get the marked BP and you step up for screening just before pre-boarding starts, in my experience they will always screen you immediately. You are required to board right after the screening, so you get on pretty early this way. Saves the screeners' time too by giving them an early start.
