Hi all, and maybe especially Dave the roadtripman if you are here :D

In addition to some excellent and some less excellent Days Inns around the US, I have been lucky to score some BRG Wingate Inn nights in the past, by matching Best Available rate from wingateinns.com with any lower rate, refundable or not, from e.g. Expedia. I would never dare book a Wyndham hotel even if I think I have found a claim, I don't want to risk being stuck with a >$150 rate (which is more than I want to pay for a room). However, in all my recent searches for different Wingate Inn properties, I see a new pattern where both wingateinns.com and the competing websites have both refundable and non-refundable rates, clearly stated in the room description, like

Wingate
Advanced Purchase 1K $109
Best Available 1K $129

Other website
King-Non Refundable $110
King $130

I don't expect this to be a valid claim, it will probably be denied as "different room type", but what if I some day find

King-Non Refundable $108
King $130

or

King-Non Refundable $110
King $128

on the competinmg website? Is there some way in any of theses cases I can book the refundable rate at Wingate and hope for a BRG night?
