Travel Technology - How to create a trip route graphic?

Hi,

I am taking a RTW trip soon and want to create a graphic that shows my route across the globe. I've been looking and can't seem to find something that makes a nice looking graphic that I can use to print, etc. The only thing that I have been able to find so far is to use the Great Circle Mapper, but that creates a very ugly map.

Anyone have a better suggestion? I know I could find a nice map somewhere, load it into Photoshop, and create the route myself, but I was really hoping to just input my stops and get one generated somehow. There's gotta be a site somewhere that does this right?

Thanks for any advice you may have.

-Troy

I've been playing with flightmap.net for a few days, it can make 32MP maps, as well as exports into Google Earth.

The app itself is free, but to print and make maps you'll need the paid version ($30). Another app is flightmemory.com where you also have the option of printing maps.

I prefer flightmap.net as it's a local app, which means I can work on it on the road.

Photoshop. There are plenty of world map outlines available for free to use as a starting point.

Thanks for the help. Flightmap looks pretty neat, don't think its worth $30 for my current need but perhaps in the future.

I use a page called "Great Circle Mapper (http://gc.kls2.com/)". Does the trick and free of charge.

This is a trip to Germany last year taken with a Garmin eMap GPS, then the recorded tracks was imported to the Garmin PC software Mapsource with Worldmap loaded.

Flight path (http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f228/oar8/FRA-SFO.jpg)

The yellow line was made with the GPS being on for the duration of the westbound flight. The white line was eastbound and made from waypoints taken along the way, then joined in Mapasource. Histogram is the altitude of the aircraft during the westbound flight.

I have a Garmin eTrex Venture CX that has a battery life of 32 hours and a microSD card slot for maps. Now I carry this unit during traveling.

See the sig. Ugly, but they'll make a print version for money. Not exactly what the OP requested, but there it is.
