Going to a FT get together in Sept.Rates in town are outside my budget.
Which would you choose-The La Guardia east Sheraton or the Sheraton Suites on the Hudson in Weehaken?
Please bear in mind that this will be a weekend stay=so any transportation will not be during commute times.
And yes-I know I should stay in town but honestly I just cannot justify the outrageous price for a bed.

Biggie...You've been here long enough to know that there are ump-teen New York City threads. :p:p:p and you start a new one!:confused::eek::p
I would stay in Jersey. There is absolutely NOTHING to do out in Queens. Book a room in Jersey and stay on the look out for travelzoo or starpicks. Also, check the thread the sc flier started about cheap rates in NYC in the event something pops up.

I'm a huge fan of the Sheraton Suites in Weehawken. Nice property. Nice, safe location. Incredible view of the New York skyline. Extremely convenient to public transportation (both the bus to Port Authority and the ferry straight across the Hudson). Much bigger rooms than almost anything in New York. Far cheaper than New York.

I stayed at both properties. Personally, I prefer the Sheraton Flushing since that hotel is right in the middle of Chinatown and next to the Korean town with lots of restaurants, shops and bars. So you can walk around the hotel just for fun. In contrast, Sheraton Weehaken is quite isolated with few shops nearby.
I might be bias since I like everything about Asia.

But Biggie wants party in the city, not Queens. Also, with train work on weekends, he'll have an easier time getting into the city than out in Queens.

Oh boy-just thought of something else!
My flight out is on a sunday at 10:55 am.
How in the world am i gonna get from Weehawken to LGA on a sunday morning?Am I gonna have to leave the hotel at 6 am to make this flight?
I might split the stay-big hassle but would save time and money maybe?

Alas, the Sheraton Flushing is on the same block as the 7 line which gets you to Grand Central Terminal in less than 30 mins.

Stay in Flushing. The ride to Manhattan is about 45 minutes. Cost is $2.00
Stay in New Jersey  (sorry, typical NY response) and you're at the mercy of the ferry schedule. Don't miss that last ferry.
Cost on the ferry is $5 or $6. While the ferry is a 10 minute ride to the far west side, you'll then need to make your way around the island.
In Queens, there's plenty to do.
In Jersey... ;)

Staying in Flushing might not be an option. It's currently showing as sold out on the weekend of your DO. (There's plenty of time between now and then for things to change, though.)
Don't forget to check Z2H promo rates (http://www.starwoodhotels.com/promotions/promo_home2.html?promoCode=Z2H) if you're willing to book prepaid and nonrefundable. You can get below $300 in Manhattan. $167 at Cat3 Sheraton JFK is available. But that's still a 50 minute subway ride to 42nd St once you're on the A line.

Ahh, that might not be true as there is often train delays/reroutes do to construction and/or maintenence.

Well we're going to have to work with you. [I know that's asking a lot he he he :p:D ] From weehaawken, you'll need to make it into midtown via ferry or train and you can transfer - separate fare - to the N/W train and the connect to the M60 which takes in total 65 barring any delays.
When you arrive in NYC (or just before you depart your city of origin) you will need to check the MTA NYC Transit website to see what train schedules/reroutes a scheduled for that weekend.
Hopefully, a hotel within your budget in the city will open up.

Ended up splitting my weekend into two nights.
First night(friday) in lovely WeeHawken :D,second night at the 4pts chelsea on points. It pains me to squander points on a four points-but you gotta do it sometimes.
I know this next thing is better for the NYC forum but I hoe I can check my rollaboard at the Met Museum ?
Will save me making too many trips on the ferry.
