I made 2 prepaid reservations today and was trying to use Discover card to pay for it, there is no option for discover card anymore.
Willian, can you tell IT guys to fix it.
Thanks

I just tried a fake booking and "discover network" was on the list.

It depends upon whether the hotel you are booking allows Starwood to accept Discover cards on their behalf.

Heh......methinks it is something more than that. ;)
Case in point....I've stayed at the Sheraton LA Downtown multiple times.
FWIW, my most recent stay was earlier this month on a 5th night free award where I was treated very nicely (suite upgrade on high floor, lounge access for breakfast and vouchers for appetizers and soft drinks in the bar each night....definitely nice)......even though I'm still waiting for points to post for 'incidentals' as well as my Plat amenity for that stay.
Getting back to the topic, I don't remember ever being able to use a Discover card to 'secure' the booking at this hotel either via SPG.com or even via the Plat Concierge (FYW, I recently booked another reservation at this hotel and encountered the same issue.....and even the Plat Concierge who booked the reservation seemed to think it was simply an oversight that DiscoverCard was not an available option).
Then again, I've noticed this same issue with at least two other SPG hotels in the USA (a stay in Texas immediately comes to mind...but I can't remember which hotel it was at as I've stayed in 6 different Sheratons and Westins in TX).
However.....I've never had any problem switching payment over to Discover whenever I checked in.......or checked out at any of those hotels.
Perhaps DiscoverCard was simply not added to the menu of choices for those hotels?
FYI, I gather that this topic is more important now due to Discover's current 5% Cash back bonus for this quarter (July-September: gas and hotels). ;)

Edit: I also wanted to add that I remembered yet another 'incident' where it was that I wasn't able to select Discover if I wanted to book a specific rate plan via the Hotel Offers page.....even if the rate plan was not 'card specific' (i.e. it allowed AMEX, MC and VISA as well as others....but not DISC)....while other rate plans at the same hotel listed DiscoverCard as an option. I just wish I could remember the hotel where this happened......as it was over a year ago. :(

The Sheraton Los Angeles Downtown Hotel allows Starwood to use the following credit cards for deposits and/or guarantees:
AMEX
Visa
Mastercard
Carte Blanche
Diners Club
Japan Credit Bureau
It does not allow Starwood to use the Discover card for this purpose. It has nothing to do with what the hotels may allow you to use when you are onsite. It has everything to do with what the hotel allows Starwood to use on their behalf. AFAIK, they can fix this tomorrow if they wished to do so by having it amended in the database, but until they do, you won't be able to use a Discover card to book online or through the Customer Contact Center even though you may be able to use it at the hotel.
Is that clearer now?

Not really....as I'll fill you in via a PM.

I just booked online at spg.com. Discover was not an option.
