Care to enlighten me on the news of a Westin in Chiangmai?

I only heard of a Le Meridien opening in Chiangmai in November.

Updated: LOL. Well, this happens when I am only 1 year old in my company.

We used to have a Westin in Chiangmai but it is no longer under SPG.

I stayed there in 2003. It was about a 5 minute taxi or tuk-tuk ride to the center of town and market. It was about a $2 ride. I would stay there again because I liked the hotel. There was a gas station convenience store across the street where I purchased a gallon bottle of water.

It appears now to be the Holiday Inn. See link with the picture of the old "Westin" I would be less likely to stay there because it is no longer Starwood, despite what I said above.

Westin - Sheraton - Holiday Inn

It was one of the very few non-airport hotels I have stayed at which provide complimentary transfer to and from the airport.

Sorry, you are right..it is the LeMeridian..that is what happens when you are tired and doing research for travel..

I went to Chiang Mai last month. Le Meridien is right on the street of the night market. Very convenient location. But it was not open yet when I was in Chiang Mai.

Yep. The LM will be right in the middle of the night market area. Construction seemed pretty advanced last time I was there.
