View Full Version : Status Miles Calculation Question

First of all I have read all the FAQ and searched the BMI website, but I just want to confirm that I have it right.

Last October I flew in F on US Air (horrible I know). My activities summary at flybmi.com shows 6888 under the "mem" column. So it is my understanding that I should have then been bumped up to Blue plus. I did get blue plus.

The return flight also shows 6888 under "mem" column. So then I should have 6888+6888-3000, or 10776 status miles, correct?

Then I flew TG r/t in C and received 1200 under "mem" column for each flight, so now my total should be 13176. But my status miles only show 6288. So it is off by 6888, which is exactly one US Air segment. Is my calculation (understanding of the program) incorrect, or is there a problem?

Also then if it is 13176, I need only 2824 to hit silver correct? And after that point I'll have a full new 12 months to get 38,000 more to make Gold?

Thanks so much for confirming/explaining if I have it right.

You appear to be suffering from MTD (missing transaction disease).

This is a fairly new phenomenon where the nasty IT bugs decide to remove something overnight that was previously quite happy where it was. The treatment might involve rest and things will resolve themselves or further intervention may be called for with a PM.

If theres no improvement by Tuesday, see some attention.

Your calculations re. Silver, and that of the route to Gold, are correct

So I telephoned about this problem on 7/13 and again on 7/21, as of today it still has not been corrected. What else can I do to get this done?

Send a nice PM to Joanna (diamond club) (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/private.php?do=newpm&u=80502) on Monday/Tuesday, and give her at least a week to sort it out. She's currently on vacation and will, no doubt, have a pile of queries to get through on her return.

Time for a PM to Diamond Club - bearing in mind she is away at the moment and will have a backlog to deal with. Give her a week or two to sort you out.

I did notice that flights credited before I hit Blue Plus effectively disappeared. It seems with the Blue Plus transition, they do zero your status miles. An agent did say that Silver and Gold were different. But this still doesn't explain your numbers, as even if that's the case, you should have 6888+1200+1200=9288. So, it seems whatever flight tips you into Blue Plus won't get the remainder over 3000 recredited. Just letting you know in case they stick to this "rule".

No, SF1K's numbers are correct.

The transition to Silver/Gold is no different to the one from Blue to Blue+

the "rule" is the excess carries over and is posted as a "miles adjustment" and appiles to all status level jumps.

Well, that's news to me. I'll ring up and get my older flights recredited. Unless it applied to me because I got 3000 miles through the Voyager promotion. So was the ICC staff member telling porkies?
