I canceled a flight for my niece and myself back in June and was told I had a $520 credit after they took the fees.
Do I have to use the credit on tickets for me and my niece or can I use it on tickets for my wife and daughter?
Also, I don't belong to their FF program so they said I would have to call in to use my credit rather than doing it online. Will they then charge me the $10 pp for calling in?
If they should file bankruptcy before I book, what will happen to my credit?
Sorry for so many questions.

You can use them for anyone you'd like.

Yes, I believe they will charge. You also would then lose out on any online-only fares. What you can do, though, is create a FF account and then call to have them add your FF number to the credit file. That will let you use it from your new online account.
If they should file bankruptcy before I book, what will happen to my credit.
It depends. If it's just reorganization and they continue filing, then you might not notice anything. If it's liquidation and they stop flying, you might have to file as an unsecured creditor and may never see your money again. If you have plans for this credit, booking travel may reduce (somewhat, but certainly not eliminate) any bankruptcy-associated risk.
Please note that these are my opinions and not financial or legal advice.

I concur -- I'd definitely book sooner rather than later. If they cease operations, at least there's a chance another airline will pick up your ticket (maybe for a small fee but still..) A "credit", in that situation, will be worthless. I'm hoping above hope that Airtran survives though!
