Mileage Run Discussion - *A Mileage run from NYC

Looking to build up a lot of miles on BD within the domestic US (all 50).

I am not overly concerned about the price and was toying with flights from JFK etc to HNL.

Is this sensible or are there better destinations?

Even going first 1-way is a "reasonable" $1400 and would net about 15k miles on BD - and a little more if there were two stops say in IAD and SFO.

Anyone else care to suggest good one-way routings from the NYC area? Am I doing the right thing by thinking HNL? It's the furthest you can fly domestically, right?

You could do JFK-IAD-SFO-ANC in First for about $1150 and it would net 4650 x 3 on BMI. RT on this route is slightly under $2300 for the end of this month. Its fewer miles than the JFK-IAD/SFO-HNL flights, but a bit cheaper on the pts/$ scale.

I'm not sure about BD but LH credits First Class miles for cash upgrades on US metal. Earlier this year I did one of the infamous East-Coast to Hawaii deals and upgraded the PHX-HNL legs using cash. The PHX-HNL leg comes in at slightly less than 10k miles (plus bonus). Price-wise it was like $250 for CLT-PHX-HNL plus $250 per u/g on the HNL legs.
Upgrades are not guaranteed, though.

Upgrades are $50 per 500 miles but not more than $250. As both OGG and HNL are more than 2500 miles away from PHX this seems to be the best bang for the buck.
