For me, it would be a toss up from LAX since you would be on the older SQ product through NRT and possibly on the newer CX one through HKG if you took the correct flight. Starting sometime in August, SQ will have their new business product on the A345 direct flight 3 times a week. In my opinion, this would blow away the other two options of SQ through NRT or CX through HKG assuming you can do the 17.5 hr flight.

Assuming that the A345 business seat is similar to the one on the 777/380 i would take this flight. I could sleep extremely well in these seats. The disadvantage is that you have to get up to change the seat from sleeping to sitting, but otherwise it is perfect and much better than any other business product i have experienced.
I prefer this seat even over some of the F seats out there.

Yes, that is the one. They have the A345 from New York converted and they are in the process of changing the ones for LAX. It is only a few days a week in August but should be every day by sometime in the Fall (Sept. I think?). I have not been on the 345 bed but have been on the 77W bed and I agree it is excellent. I only eat dinner and then sleep so the akwardly wide seat for sitting does not bother me. The laying is the best I have been in including some First class seats out there.
