SAS EuroBonus - Moving to another country, lower qualification level... but when ?

Hi

I have some trouble with getting my facts straight, I called SAS three times today, talked to three different agents but nobody could give me an exact answer. Maybe the experts on this board can.

The point is that I am going to move to Eastern Europe in a month or so(Poland, Hungary or the Czech Rep. for a an uncertain time, but at least a year) and as I change my address I understand that the threshold for getting EBG will shrink from 100k to 55k, that is verified from SAS and so far everything is alright but I still do not understand when this change will take place, immediately or do I have to wait until my next "qualification period" begins ? The ladies at SAS only said "sorry, I do not know", and I am rather surprised.

Anybody have a clue, or even better... accurate information ? Thanks in advance!

I would also be interested in knowing the answer... surely somebody has done this?

When I had my address in France two years ago the new levels went into effect immediately. It took a few days though for the address change to go through.

Hi, after several days of steady contact with SAS they now promised me to call back later today, before the "changes" (they recenly changed the rules)the the lower point requirements became valid after one activity, but it is not so anymore. It seems like there is only ONE (!!!) guy at SAS who knows the answer and they have to find him, then they will let me now. I will post my own answer on this topic as soon as I know.

So, I was called by SAS this afternoon and here is the answer; for a while they changed the rules so that you had to wait for the qualification period to end, it was so for a few months but now everything is back to normal, that means... From the moment you change your address it takes a few days for the system to correct you details, and then the new rules apply from your first flight.

Take care !

Sorry to bring this up again but I just wanted to make sure I know how this works. I'll probably move to Finland this autumn which means I can take advantage of the lower qualification-levels. In a couple of weeks I'll be on the treshold to the next EB-level with Finnish rules and so I thought I could change my adress from Sweden to Finland a bit earlier and make a small MR to get to the next level.

From what I understand this would work to get the next level:
Points earned with Swedish rules -> Change to Finnish adress -> Fly to get to next level -> End q. period = new card?

Have I understood this right? And if so, isn't this easy to exploit then? But with SAS yearning for higher level EB-members with the last EBS/EBG-promotion I guess maybe they don't care?

Another thing just occured to me, will this move affect my co-branded DinersClub card? Or do Diners not care about what your EB-adress is?

Yes PapaG you understand the procedures. ;) Except that you do not have to wait for the qualification period to end (if you reach a new level) to obtain a new card.
This is my story, short;
Earned 21k points with Swedish EB rules, changed my address to Hungary, flew a trip (ARN-FRA-JFK return), passed the 25k threshold and received my EBS card after 2 weeks.

The important thing is thought that you must change your address before you pass the limit for required points.
Good luck.

I previously had a Norwegian Diners card (without points :( ), and a Swedish EB account... (Wasn't that completely the wrong way around or what?! ;) )
It worked perfectly fine with different countries... I think they only care about the actual number and then they are linked somehow from there...
It is always Diners who sends out the new cards...
