So you will get lounge access and miles (including Q miles)! agentangel Jun 30, 08, 2:19 pm Thanks! That's what I get for only look at the logos on the one world page. ijgordon Jun 30, 08, 6:19 pm I assume that if I'm flying CX J into HK connecting to KA F to PVG (CX ticket) then I'll get access to the CX F Lounges? But I guess while I'm at it, anyone have any opinions on KA F service HKG-PVG and whether it's worth ~US$100 (my fare difference over J) each way? cxfan1960 Jun 30, 08, 7:11 pm I assume that if I'm flying CX J into HK connecting to KA F to PVG (CX ticket) then I'll get access to the CX F Lounges? You can access the CX F lounges in HKG on the day of your KA HKG-PVG flight. You cannot access a CX F lounge before your flight to HKG. IMHO, it does not worth it: * It is only marginal improvement over KA J. * If you want to take an earlier flight, you may not be able to because not all KA flights have F. On the other hand, it will get you into the CX F lounges in HKG, but US$100 seems to be too much to pay for a lounge access. bagold Jul 1, 08, 8:51 am I assume that if I'm flying CX J into HK connecting to KA F to PVG (CX ticket) then I'll get access to the CX F Lounges? If you like a more intimate cabin, then go for F. For US$100 it is worth it when compared to what you get on US airlines. However, you will be just fine in J too. The F seats are basically the same as the SQ J spacebeds. LHR/MEL/Europe FF Oct 8, 08, 3:54 pm Hi all I'm still confused about lounge access after reading the KA and CX websites. I am travelling Y class on CX flight number, code shared on KA operated flight. O/W Emerald. Can I access the CX/KA lounge in Shanghai (PVG)? The CX and KA websites make no mention of oneworld (whereas they DO for lounges in HK etc). Thanks in advance lme ff cxfan1960 Oct 8, 08, 4:46 pm Hi all I'm still confused about lounge access after reading the KA and CX websites. In case you run into trouble, you can bring along the OW rules or simply ask them to check with HKG. Thanks in advance lme ff Yes, lounge attendants there are all KA staff anyway .They all know the drill...KA is OW, and 100% owned by CX. brunos Oct 9, 08, 6:27 am Yes, lounge attendants there are all KA staff anyway .They all know the drill...KA is OW, and 100% owned by CX. KA is not a member of OW. It is only an "affiliate" of CX. Like Air Nostrum is an affiliate of Iberia. It is up to the various OW members to decide how they treat affiliates of other OW members. In most cases it makes little difference. But a member airline (e.g. BA or QF) could have different policy with pax on CX (OW member) and KA (affiliate of CX). For example, if BA had its OWN (dedicated) lounge at PEK it could have a policy of accepting J class pax travelling on CX, but not on KA. In practice, I dont think that there are any differences because I cannot think of any destinations flown by KA where that would happen. But it is certainly the case for other OW affiliates. For example, if you fly biz Air Nostrum in Europe you cannot gain access to the BA-operated lounges. mosburger Oct 9, 08, 12:02 pm I've done KA in J and F to PVG. Then have a leisurely bath/shower and eat a full breakfast/lunch/dinner at the F lounge and skip food on board and just relax. Even if you happen to get a two class plane the new J seat is still quite nice for the latter purpose. cxfan1960 Oct 9, 08, 12:42 pm I wouild gladly pay the 100 bucks extra for KA F from/to PVG. F and J lounges are different in HKG, but there is only one combined F/J lounge in PVG. The statement is correct for HKG-PVG. On PVG-HKG, the only difference is the access of the new arrival lounge - which has showers and food, but is very small. In any case I don't find the F prices on HKG - PVG or vice versa that bad. A couple of hours sleep or just comfortable rest on the flight can make a big difference sometimes. :) |
