Australia, New Zealand & the South Pacific - One or two weeks on Niue

I've checked out the official Niue tourism websites and read David Stanley's Pacific Handbook, and I'm starting to like the idea of visiting Niue.
Since there's only one flight per week, the question is if I should go there for one or two weeks. Are there enough things to do for two weeks, or can I do the "touristy" things in a week without feeling hurried?

Depends on you I'd say. The island is very small. If you are happy chilling out then 2 weeks would be fantastic. If not then 1 week is more than ample.

It's been several years since I visited Niue. I loved it, but I think a week would be enough unless you really wanted to chill out and spend a lot of time reading or contemplating life.

Thanks for the advice. I'm thinking about combining the Niue visit with a couple of weeks on the Cook Islands, so I guess one week on Niue would be enough since I'd get some "slow" time on the Cooks.

The tricky part seems to be finding award seats (or paid tickets) from RAR to IUE.
I found a $1200 from RDU to RAR, which is much cheaper than flying to AKL, so finding some way to get to IUE from RAR on an award would be nice. In worst case I could do two separate Pacific zone awards via AKL or separate RAR-AKL and AKL-IUE roundtrip paid tickets.

For that matter, I can't find flights from RDU to IUE for a good price online(separate RDU-AKL and AKL-IUE tickets are cheaper), but I suspect that could still be an effect of IUE being a pretty new AirNZ destination. When I called AirNZ they couldn't find any fares for U.S. -> IUE.

It is not that much of a new destination. I expect there are only fares to IUE from NZ and perhaps Australia.

If your program allows stopovers on awards, the easiest is to have award to RAR via AKL, with a stopover at AKL and buy a ticket AKL-IUE-AKL.
