That's the same thing my husband got for being a Mileage Plus member. When I called to switch his regular membership to the Gold, I asked why they were doing this, and was told that it was a promo for the HHonors Platinum Amex card (application enclosed) but not a requirement that you sign up. It did not appear to be avail to the world at large, and I was not upgraded.

My new HH Gold card arrived this week too for my Gold status with American.

I called customer service and was able to combine my new Gold status (which had a later expiration than my current membership number), and be qualified for the 50K 4 stay promo. Stay #1 this weekend.

I wonder as I now have lifetime Gold with AA, if I'll have lifetime Gold with HH??

Something similar here too - I got a HH Gold just last week - the mailer said it was b/c of my Continental Gold status. I've NEVER before signed up for HHonors, and don't really stay at Hiltons much. I'm a Starwood loyalist ordinarily, but I have to stay at the Biltmore in Phoenix this week for something so the HH Gold come just in time for me to try out!

Sorry, but it doesn't work that way. You have lifetime Gold with AA as a 1MM AAdvantage member, but that status does not give you lifetime Gold with Hilton.

If you don't requalify for HHonors Gold some way or another before this current HHonors Gold account expires, you'll be out of luck unless requalifying somehow on your own or otherwise getting lucky again that an airline-related promotion or some other promotion comes around to give you HHonors Gold again.

just one that was sent to you in an email?

Also, was their a link in the offer from Aeroplan?
