Hilton HHonors - Gold Status Upgrade On Amex

I have signed up for the Gold status and will charge my $20K this month. My question is . . . how long once I charge the moeny will my account be upgraded to gold?

My status changed to Gold on or very close to the same date the points posted to my Hhonors account, about 3-5 days after the statement period closed (e.g. statement closed May 22, points posted May 27, status changed to Gold on the 27th or 28th). Enjoyed room upgrades, lounge access and complimentary breakfast at the Hilton at CDG and Hilton at MAD about a week later.

How long is the Gold status valid? Is it the balance of that year or that year plus the following full year?

My card shows 12 months' validity from the month of upgrade (i.e. good through May 2009).

I thought this was Automatic! At the bottom of every monthly statement it says how much you charged from Jan-1st, and says you'll get Gold if you reach $20K by end of year.

Sorry. . .my mistake. . I signed up for the card.. . . just wanted to see how quickly I cna get upgraded . .taking a couple of trips in august and wanted to make sure if I charged 20K on this card I would be upgraded in time.

Just be sure your expectations are in line with reality. Gold status in no way guarantees a room upgrade.
