JetBlue TrueBlue - Any truth to JFK-MBJ/UVF?

I heard JetBlue is planning flights to Montego Bay, Jamaica and the Caribbean island of St. Lucia starting in November. This was taken from the Carib Aviation thread on Airliners.net so obviously i'm a bit skeptical (especially on the flight to St. Lucia) giving recent events in this industry as well.

Gotta love those a.net rumors. I doubt we will see any new route openings in the near future, especially with oil now at a new high of $143. I do know that Caribbean yields are generally higher than transcons or domestic flights of similar length, but with leisure travelers slowing down due to higher fares, I would not expect any new leisure markets right now. Plus, ASMs will actually decrease later this year, as mentioned at the JP Morgan Conf.

I'd be particularly shocked by UVF. AA is pulling out of the service due to low yields/loads.

Ooooo... St. Lucia, another fun destination to redeem an award flight for.


St. Lucia was heavily advertised this spring on NY radio, more so than any other Caribbean island. I'm surprised that loads are low for this destination.

I'm not all that surprised that the loads are low to St. Lucia. There isn't much biz traffic and leisure traffic can only sustain so many flights. Plus it isn't all that great a place to visit unless you want to be stuck on a resort property with little variety or options. Then again, those resorts are all in business, so I guess enough people like them. Not my style at all.

I think it should be wait for official news releases from B6 for JFK-MBJ/UVF. I think its should considered for JFK-MBJ instead of KIN. I thinks its should be great opportunities where leisure traveler will fly from JFK.

I knew the loads was terribly for AA but, its has already pulled out is completely done. I think B6 will should getting better for those days. Perhaps if B6 will eventually new routes from JFK-MBJ instead of KIN.
