I've booked the hotels for my honeymoon (great girl and future wife) on the islands Kauai and Maui. I'm hoping this post is acceptable after reading the sticky. I'm wondering if there is a certain airport I should be looking for to travel from the northeast to Hawaii. I don't expect anyone to search for me but am wondering if there is one airport that is known to be cheaper, i.e. ewr as compared to phl. I don't mind driving from Philly to New York or Baltimore if the flight is cheaper. Thanks in advance!!

Welcome to FlyerTalkbill83c4 !
[mod hat on]We have relaxed the rules here in Budget Travel, as a lot of folks don't have anyplace to turn to help with finding inexpensive airfares (though the sticky remains).[/mod hat off]
Congrats on your honeymoon :)
Now you would think that a big market like New York / Newark would be a great place to find cheap fare, but it's subject to "the hub penalty" (I live with IAH's hub penalty). The airline execs call it a "hub premium," and happily charge more for nonstop flights. Connecting flights tend to cost less, because airlines are trying to entice travelers to make a connection rather than flying nonstop with competitors.
So PHL may be cheaper on CO than flying out of EWR, but the other way around on US, since PHL is their hub.
A good primer on finding low priced airfare is in one of the stickies in the mileage run forum. And no, you don't have to be a mileage runner to take advantage of the tools to find low fares.
Others are free to offer other advice, including specific routings, and someone is in the mood they may do just that. Mostly luck of the draw, if a helpful member has the time and is willing to spend it to help a newbie.

you also might consider train from new england to EWR Liberty Newark NJ
or Baltimore BWI thence to Hawaii.
recommend you consider trip insurance to cover any unforeseen problems
such as delay/cancellations et al...
Aloha!
