Cathay Pacific Asia Miles - Problems with Citibank CX Visa Card (Singapore)

Anyone else having a similar problem.?

The letter from Citibank about the termination of the CX Visa card stated "You may continue to use your card and enjoy its associated priveliges and benefits up to and including May 31st 2008."

I received the replacement PremierMiles card in mid May but continued to use the original card until 31st May before switching cards as I wanted to get as many asiamiles as possible at the better rate. For the period 15-30th May I spent S$13k on the card, around half of which was overseas spending.

However I have ended up with CitiMiles being credited rather than the expected (and much more generous) direct asiamiles. I thought this would be a simple phone call to fix and the original letter seems unambiguous however the muppets on the phone keep offering to helpfully convert Citimiles to asiamiles (at 0.4 and for a fee.!) and dont seem to grasp the basis of my complaint. A promised call back from a Manager has not materialised and I am getting increasingly frustrated up with them. Just wondered if anyone was in the same boat and had managed to resolve this satisfactorily

Are you sure about the conversion rates? In the Hong Kong version, the conversion rates for the new card are the same as the old one (and there is a promotion running 1st June to 31st August which makes them even better), and the conversion fee is permanently waived.

Old card was 1 asiamile per 1 US$ spend and double miles for overseas transactions

New card is 1.2 Citimile per 1 S$. Convertible at 0.4 asiamiles per citimile so for comparison purposes roughly 1 asiamile per 1.52 US$ spend (if I have done the math right.!) and no doube promo for overseas..

What is the June-August promotion? Thanks.

HK$6 = 1 AM on HK$ spending.
