I beleive the reason they pulled out of India was due to a non-compete with Trident (the prior manager of the Inida Hilton properties). Apparently, there was some sort of exclusivity clause that prevented hilton from adding additional properties that competed with the Trident Hilton properties. therfore, Hilton pulled out of Trident altogether and decided to have a go at it on its own.

Very interesting, so it looks like the commitment is there, although right now it looks the opposite of that. Whoever stroke the deal with Trident was not quite thinking broadly since they basically gave away the power....

Sheesh. This can't happen soon enough. How is it possible that one of the biggest hotel brands in the world has zero presence in India? Sorry for reviving an old thread -- has anyone heard of any updates? I saw that Saket is now listed on the Hilton website, but not opened yet.

In any event it's no help for my trip there in March, but I hope they're continuing with plans to have SOME kind of footprint sooner than later.

peace,
~Ben~
