American Express Membership Rewards - Event Ticket Protection benefit "clarified"

I received a postcard in the mail to "clarify a Card member benefit known as Event Ticket Protection Plan."

Please be advised that the Event Ticket Protection Plan is not available for Card members who are residents of New York State and any additional Card members on their accounts. Accordingly the Description Of Coverage for the Event Ticket Protection Plan that accompanies your Cardmember Agreement is hereby deleted.

I'm glad that they clarified that rather than "enhancing" the benefit; I might have been hit with a fee increase, too. :rolleyes:

I'll admit that I've never used it and never expect to, but it is pretty interesting that they had to exempt NY residents from the program for whatever reason.

Can you call and get your annual fee reduced?

Just got the same card today. I'm a NJ resident, so I'm fairly curious as to why they would send cards to members that aren't residents of NY state.

Probably because enough people live in one and work in the other and they don't know if your billing address is work or home. Or just because they can.
